She might not knowthe answer, but I do.

She would have been there. Waiting for me. I would have devoured her mouth. Again. Made her mine. And we would have lived happily ever after.

Or something along those lines anyway.

Instead, we’ve wasted the last three years apart when we should have been creating memories, building our future.

Good thing there’s still time. And I don’t plan to waste another minute.

Of course, I don’t voice any of those thoughts because I don’t want to scare the hell out of her. I may be sure about the way I feel for her, but I can tell she’s not sure anymore. If she ever was.

Our encounter was brief. Memorable—for me at least—but brief.

And she has a valid point. I have been flaunting girls in front of her since that night. Not necessarily on purpose, but all the same, there have been tons of girls. Not that I’ve slept with every single one of them. There have been a few, but not as many as she probably thinks.

She spent the last year with a man who didn’t value her. Who cheated on her. Who basically threw their relationship away for a quick fling.

How did he not see how special she is?

It’s all I can think about as her eyes close and her breathing even outs.

Once I’m sure Scarlet is fast asleep, I pull her into my arms and rest my head on top of her.

“It’s you, Scar. It’s always been you,” I whisper into her hair before kissing the top of her head.

I’m almost asleep myself when I hear her reply.

“You too.”

The soundof something crashing followed by a loud cursing wakes me. When I roll over, I find myself alone in Scarlet’s bed. Reaching over, the sheets are cool to the touch, the sound of running water telling me exactly where I can find my petite beauty.

Tossing back the covers, my feet hit the floor as another crash sounds from down the hall.

What is she doing in there?

Knocking on the bathroom door, I call out Scarlet’s name, but she doesn’t reply. I check the handle and find it unlocked.

I can either go in and make sure she’s okay, or I can stay out here?

She could be injured. I came here to make sure she was okay, to take care of her. If she hurts herself, I’ve failed her. Again.

On the other hand, she’s definitely naked. Not that I have an issue with that. I’ve imagined what she looks like naked a thousand times, and still I know it won’t compare to the real thing.

As I contemplate my next move, I hear a door open downstairs and slam closed.

“Scarlet!”

Shit. Mya is here.

Slipping inside the bathroom, I whisper yell to Scarlet.

“Hey! Mya’s here.”

“What are you doing in here?”

“I heard a crash, so I wanted to check on you. Now I’m trying to hide from Mya. Keep your voice down.” I’m whisper yelling at her, attempting to keep my voice low enough she’s the only one that can hear me.
