Pulling back the shower curtain, Scarlet peeks her head out and glares at me. Her hair is soaked, and her shoulder is covered in bubbles. My mind starts to imagine what she’s hiding behind the curtain when she finally speaks. “Are you ashamed of me?”

“Hell no!” Lowering my voice, I wait for Scarlet to make eye contact with me before I continue. When she finally does, I smirk at her. “I wasn’t sure if you wanted her to know I stayed the night.”

“Doesn’t she already know you’re here?”

“Not exactly.”

“I thought you saw her last night.”

“Leaving. I saw her leaving. I waited until she was gone before I let myself in. No one knows I’m here except Kane.”

Scarlet rolls her eyes and ducks back behind the curtain. “Leave, Colt.”

“No.”

“I need to rinse off and then get out. You can’t be in here.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I’ll turn my back.”

“And what are you going to do? Hide in here until Mya leaves?”

I hadn’t thought that far ahead. I bolted into the bathroom when I heard Mya’s voice. It seemed like the best option at the time. Now I’m second guessing my decision. Scarlet’s room might have been a better idea. At least that way we weren’t giving Mya any ideas.

And I wasn’t getting a hard-on thinking about the fact that Scarlet was naked less than ten feet away from me. Dripping wet. Her skin slippery from the soap.

“Are you going to answer me?” she asks as the water shuts off, her voice seeming louder.

“Shh. She’s going to hear you.”

“She probably already knows you’re here.” Her hand snakes out from behind the curtain, snags the towel hanging on a hook next to the shower, and disappears again.

“There’s no way.”

“Fun fact, there’s no way to keep secrets in this house. Which means she’s probably on the other side of the door, listening to our conversation. She’s probably smirking, waiting impatiently for us to emerge. More than likely, she thinks we showered together. That you screwed me against the tiles. And I’m going to let her think whatever she wants.”

“Why would you do that?” I whisper yell.

“It’ll be fun to hear what scenarios she comes up with. If I tell her the truth, that we just slept, that’ll take all the fun out of it. Plus, I’m leaving today and won’t have to see her for a week. I’ll give her the real details when I get back.”

The shower curtain slides open, and I wish I could say that Scarlet was still naked, but the towel she grabbed is now wrapped tightly around her body, covering all the delicious parts of her I was hoping for a peek at. Water is dripping from the ends of her hair, the droplets landing on her chest, running between her breasts, and disappearing beneath the towel.

I wish I were a water droplet right now.

“Stop staring at me like that.”

“Like what?” I challenge, taking a step toward her. Her eyes widen as I take another step, closing the distance between us.

“Colt,” my name comes out a whispered plea.

“What do you need Scarlet?” I finally ask when I’m within arm’s reach of her. Her hands are clenching the towel above her breasts as if it’s going to fall off if she lets go.

Shaking her head, she averts her eyes and says, “I need to get dressed so I can get on the road.”

The lust in her voice betrays her but I don’t have a chance to point it out. As soon as she attempts to step out of the tub, she begins tumbling forward, her ankle giving out on her when she tries to bear weight on it.

If I hadn’t been standing so close, I wouldn’t have caught her.

There was no way she was going to catch herself considering she refused to release the grip on her towel.
