I gasp as Kyros’ hand slips into mine, so focused on the figure, I hadn’t noticed him moving back to stand beside me. My eyes run over him, yet he doesn’t seem nervous or anxious in the least. I sigh, allowing the tension to leave my body. If he isn’t on alert, the figure must not mean any harm.

He squeezes my hand, pulling me from my thoughts just as the figure comes into focus. The headmaster now stands before us, yet his form is not actually there, more like a hologram than an actual living being.

“It’s a projection.” He leans down, whispering in my ear, “He can send them throughout the school.”

I calm at his words. The idea of being in the headmaster’s presence turned my stomach.

“Professors and students, as you know, an incident occurred earlier this morning. I would like to reassure everyone that no students or faculty were injured,” I scoff, narrowing my eyes at the projection as though the look itself could send my ire straight through the illusion to the demigod himself.

“I would like to reiterate that no students or faculty are in any danger at this college. Our wards remain intact, and the perpetrators of this stunt will be dealt with.” His words make it seem as though the attack had been some sort of harmless prank. I scowl at his figure, wishing the real man was in front of me. As if he senses my glare, his eyes seemingly focus on me. Which shouldn’t be possible.

I glance up at Kyros, whose brows are furrowed on the projection before us, he too noticing the direct focus of his gaze.

“I have found the cause of the issue, and rest assured, I will not stop until I have it within my grasp.” Mavros’ eyes stay locked on mine until his image flickers out, leaving no trace of the man I still see ingrained in my vision.

The students stand from their spots on the ground, oblivious to the headmaster’s message. Now at ease, believing the situation to be handled.

Kyros’ large fingers squeeze around my hand, drawing my gaze up to meet his. His brows furrow in confusion, eyes full of concern as he stares back at me.

Nope, I definitely did not imagine that. His words were meant for me. The only question left is, what the hell did he mean by them?
