I open my eyes and glance to the side to find both Finley and Vex sitting there looking at me. A look of grief on both their faces.

It hits me like a battle-ax as I stare into Finley’s. Everything comes back to me. The accident, all of it. Arwen’s and Mara-Lee’s screams. The crushing sounds ringing in my ear.

Shit.

“Where are they?” I demand, moving quicker than I should.

“Halton should be here any minute, sleeping beauty,” Finley says, sounding pissed.

“Don’t call me fuckin’ sleeping beauty. Why didn’t you just wake me the fuck up?” I snarl, ripping the IV from the back of my hand.

“Maybe because you hadn’t woken up since they brought your ass in, and they were worried about that shit.” She seethes. “We’re looking for them. Soon as I got the call.”

“How long?”

“Eight hours,” she answers.

Fuck, it’s been eight hours. Anything could’ve happened to them. I shake my head in defeat. I promised Arwen I wouldn’t let anything else happen to her, and it was a fucking lie. The first chance I got and I motherfucking failed her.

The curtain swings to the side, and Halton steps up with Colton and Dalton at his side. Swear their names can be a mind fuck sometimes. But Halt and Colt are actually twins so that explains them. Dalt though, he started working for us a few months after the other two.

“You got something?” I demand and glance around for something to put on that’s not a damn hospital gown.

Dalton tosses a bag on the end of the bed filled with a set of clothes for me.

“Thanks,” I mutter and snatch the shirt out first. “Now, what do you have?” I look at them while I get dressed.

“Found them, and you’re not going to like who has them.” The grimace on Halton’s face tells me exactly why.

Fuck. I’ll make them pay for this shit. All I’ve ever wanted was to live a life without them in it, and they can’t seem to stay the fuck away.

I’ll make sure of it this time around, though. They’ll learn.

Dressed, I look at each of them and quirk a brow. “Y’all coming?”

“Dude, you sure you should be out of that bed?” Finley questions cautiously.

“I’m going to get my woman and sister back,” I declare, narrowing my gaze on her.

Finley knows me and knows I won’t rest until I’m dead when it comes to protecting those who I claim as family. Mara-Lee is my claimed sister, and Arwen is my fucking woman. Both are missing and I’ll get them back.

I have to.

ARWEN

How can I be so exhausted? Not just physically but mentally. I’ve been through hell and back, yet this seems worse.

So much worse.

I woke tied to a chair, my wrists bound together with zip-ties, and being hit with ice water. It was cold enough to leave me trembling. I didn’t know where I was or who had taken us.

All that keeps running through my mind is the accident. Cedric’s unmoving face. Blood everywhere, and the way his head was cocked in an awkward position. I didn’t want to think about it, but from the way he was situated, he looked dead. And it broke me. The sight of him circles on rotation in my head alongside the screams coming from another room. I haven’t seen Mara-Lee, but I know it’s her. It has to be.

I yelled out a few times, but each time, I was either hit with ice water or slapped hard enough to send my chair backward.

I don’t know how much time passes, but it has to be hours at least.
