I closed my hands around her waist, pulling her down toward me, and I moved my hips in rhythm with hers, helping her take me deeper—not that she needed it. Her walls clenched around my length and she gasped. I sped up a little more and she followed for five seconds. She moaned and her body broke in little trembles. She fell over me and her lips met mine. The kiss, her breasts on my chest, her warm core around my length—it took me over the edge. I locked my arms around her and groaned as I came, stronger than ever before.

I shook for a few more seconds, then I pulled back enough to look into her eyes. “I love you too.”

She smiled at me.

I reached up and kissed her again. I didn’t mean to, but I was sure my apprehension was clear through the kiss. I dragged my lips across her jaw, down her throat, and buried my head on her neck. I inhaled deeply, taking in as much of her sweet scent as I could, and kept my arms around her.

If it depended on me, I would never let her go.

After making love to Raika,I didn’t dwell. I got up, got dressed, said a quick goodbye and left. Because I had no strength left to do it any other way.

If I took my time, if I held her, if I told her I loved her again, I wasn’t sure I would be able to leave.

I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me. I paused for a second and took a deep breath. I heard her sniffle from inside the room and marched away before the sound broke my resolve.

I was five minutes early, but so were Dom and Vallin. They waited for me by Vallin’s truck. When they saw me approaching, they didn’t say anything. Vallin slipped behind the wheel, Dom took the backseat, and I climbed into the passenger seat.

And off we went.

The inn was an hour south of the pack lands, and the meeting place was one hour south from the inn. With Vallin’s heavy foot, we were able to shave off a few minutes.

At eleven fifty, we arrived at the meeting place. This time, there was no tent, and so far, no one else around. Vallin left the headlights on, pointing to the clearing, so we could see something.

My skin tingled and my stomach knotted. I didn’t want to admit it, but I was nervous. To pass the time and to try to relax, I stretched. Dom and Vallin walked the clearing’s perimeter, searching for danger.

Midnight came.

And no one showed up.

Had I understood him wrong? I glanced at my phone. Nope, the text said midnight. I texted him.

Where are you?

I paced while I waited for an answer.

A minute passed.

Then two.

Nortrix, are you fucking with me?

No answer.

Dom walked to my side. “Are you talking to him? What’s going on?”

“He’s not answering.”

Just then, my phone dinged.

I’ll be there soon.

Dom read the text over my shoulder. “He’s late? Really?”

Vallin stood a few feet away, his back to us, his eyes on the clearing. “This doesn’t smell good.”

I had that same sense. “To the hell with this.” I called Nortrix. The phone rang and rang. “Something is wrong.” I tried calling him again. On the third ring, he answered it.
