Page 53 of Faerie Stolen

A sudden chill crept up my back and I walked over to the window where Noah had just been standing.

Nerves coiled inside of me as I thought more about riding to border towns. I’d never been anywhere in Faerie outside of the castle grounds and the small village here. What awaited on this journey?

And if we were entering a war zone, what then? I’d held my own against some of the royalty here in Unseelie, but what about Seelie warriors? Who had been fighting since they were young? Trained their entire lives.

What luck could a screwed-up foster kid have against an army, if it came to that. And how would I be able to help defend Noah through it all?

I shivered and crawled into my bed. I’d see Nicole at dinner, maybe get some clarity then from her on advice and last-minute training tips.

But for now, the dread of what could be waiting for me, waiting for Noah outside of the castle walls, seemed just as threatening as the evil that was currently inside the walls.

Right now, it seemed there was nowhere safe. And if that was the case, I needed a clear mind and rest.

Because whatever awaited us, I still had the monster at home that would have to be dealt with too. The Unseelie were facing a war raging at home and abroad.

And the royal family didn’t even know it.
