What? High School?

“I can’t go into any more detail, just know that Cashel,” he points to the asshole on the ice, “is not good for you.”

“But you are?”

“We’re going to give you the world,” he grins broadly.

“You dating my daughter?” my dad asks, handing me some popcorn.

“I am, sir. We didn’t get around to telling you yet,” Ace answers for me.

“I’m—”

Ace kisses my neck, halting anything I was going to say.

“Better than Cashel,” my dad mutters. Even my dad doesn’t like him. Was I just blind before? I loved him so much that I never saw the person for who he really was and is?

Ace holds my hand the whole game, never letting it go.

“I need to go to the restroom,” I tell him.

“Let’s go. Game is almost over. We can go change.”

He is still in a suit, so he means me. I can go change.

“Dad, have a good dinner. We’re going to head out.” I kiss my dad’s cheek before walking out with Ace. Before I exit the arena, I turn to see Cashel glaring at me, or at Ace, hard to tell.

What is up with him?
