Page 116 of Her Maine Risk

“I know.” I smirk. “That’s the plan.” I don’t know where that came from, but again, my thoughts just speak for me without a filter.

Stopping outside on the deck, he spins me around and presses me against the railing. “You plan on ruining me for all other women, Melanie?” he asks, my name rolling off his tongue like a litany.

“Yes. I do.”

His beautiful emeralds turn to gems before me – hard, heated, and multifaceted. “Too late,” he says, his lips crashing down on mine.

This kiss is primal, sensual, and wild. But the sound of tires on gravel and car doors slamming has me pulling away, remembering where I am as I suck in air, my head spinning.

When I catch my breath, I blink my eyes open to see a serious look on his face.

“What’s wrong?”

“You’ve already ruined me, gorgeous,” he rasps, cupping my face, his thumb caressing my cheek.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt such a rush of happiness as I do right now. Smiling, I know I’m giving away that I’m in love with him, and as scared as I am, I want him to see it in my eyes. I want him to know.

I just can’t say the words.

“Come on, gorgeous. I want to show you off.”

“Okay.” I smile, loving that.

Placing his hand on my lower back, he guides me down the stairs and around the building so we enter through the front door, and all eyes are on us as we walk through the restaurant area towards the bar.

“When was the last time you walked through the front door with a date?”

“Never.”

“What?” I look up at him, surprised.

“Yeah, gorgeous.” He laughs. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever taken out in Pine Cove for all to see. I’m staking my claim, baby,” he says, and gives me no warning before pulling me close and kissing me long and hard – my back bending at his force.

Bringing me back up, I grip his shirt as I try and catch my breath, feeling every single person in here staring at us.

“Hey, Fonz?”

“Yeah, baby?” He smirks.

“Is everyone staring at us?”

“Of course,” he says, not caring one bit.

And that solidifies it further.

I love him.

I love Alex Bane.

He just told everyone in a very public way that I’m his, and he’s mine. And I’m elated. Fucking elated.

“That alright?” Spreading his fingers wide on my back possessively, I smooth my palms out on his chest.

“Yeah, it’s more than alright.” I smile, and he kisses the corner of my mouth.

Walking the rest of the way up to the bar, I avoid looking around, but when I take a seat on a stool, I see the red headed bartender, Shelby, that caught us out back, shooting daggers at me.

I should expect that now, though. Alex is walking sex, and every woman who’s ever had him wants more, but couldn’t get it. Alex never gives more.
