Looking up, I can see the shadows of fisherman boats bobbing in the water out in the distance – the moon casting just enough of a glow to see them.

Picking up my fallen book from the floor, I sigh, seeing that it fell closed. Now I’ve lost my place.

But I guess that’s the least of my worries. I have a date tomorrow, and I’m both excited and scared. I don’t want to like him even more than I do.

But I know it’s inevitable. Because every time he touches me, and kisses me, I fall a little more under his spell. Add in the fact that he knows how to play my body like a finely tuned piano, and I don’t stand a chance.

Waking up the next morning, I stretch out in bed and yawn, but quickly curl back into my blanket to rid my body of the morning chill in my bones.

Slipping out of bed, I trudge down the hall and warm myself up with a hot shower, making sure to stay under the steady stream of water for an extra minute or two.

Dressing in a set of light purple scrubs, I dry my hair and braid it in a long plait down my back.

When Dr. Taylor told me I could wear whatever I wanted, I went online straight away and ordered this light purple set, a pink one, light blue, black, and a few cute patterned tops to mix and match with the different pants. I love that I get to wear fun scrubs and not strictly navy and white like before.

Throwing on my white zip up sweatshirt, I grab my purse and head out.

The drive into town is a quiet one, and I only pass by one other car. It’s going to take a while to get used to the lack of people and congestion, but I love it.

Parking along Main Street, I first stop in at The Blueberry Café, and am immediately greeted by the smiles of Ally and Courtney.

“Mel! How was your weekend?” Ally asks.

“Good.” I smile.

“How did it go when we left you on Friday?” Courtney smirks.

“Fine.”

“Fine? That’s all we get?” Ally pops her hip against the counter and pins me with a look.

Sighing, I roll my eyes. “Can I have a coffee please?”

“Will you talk if I give you one?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, then.” Pouring me a steaming cup of their dark roast, I take it from her and immediately inhale the strong, bold aroma.

Taking a sip, I close my eyes as the flavors burst on my tongue and slide down my throat, waking my body up.

Alex compared my taste, and kissing me, to the first sip of coffee in the morning. And now that I’m experiencing it right now, I love that description, and my cheeks heat knowing I’m one of his favorite tastes now.

“What’s that look on your face for?”

“Huh?” I open my eyes, and see them staring at me with huge grins. “What?”

“That look on your face,” Ally starts, studying me. “You had mind-blowing sex with Alex, didn’t you?”

Widening my eyes, I look around to see if anyone heard, and breathe a sigh of relief when I notice the people who were in here left.

“Did you?” Courtney asks, practically bouncing from foot to foot.

“Yes,” I tell them, and they erupt into screams and cheers.

“AHHH! How was it? How was he? How big was he? Is the hype worth it? How many times did you do it?” Ally and Courtney pepper me with question after question and all I can do to keep up is dart my eyes back and forth between them.
