“You’re sure you want this idiot?” Ryan asks me.

“Yeah, I’m sure.” I look up at Tyler and he winks. “I can handle him,” I say, and Ryan laughs.

“Good. He needs you.”

“Ellie, are you sure, though?” Jake asks, joining us. “He’s never been serious about anyone before.”

“Like you were so great before you met Ally.”

“Hey,” I say, slapping Tyler’s stomach. “That’s my best friend.”

“Sugar, it was a dig at Jake, not Ally.”

“It better not have been.”

“Fiercely loyal pack of women, you ladies are,” Jake says, nodding his approval.

“Yes, we are. And you boys better remember that.” I look each of them in the eye, and then smile when I see the semi-scared looks on their faces.

“So sexy when you’re telling us off, baby,” Tyler whispers low in my ear so his brothers can’t hear. But my face no doubt gives away what he said, and Ryan and Jake laugh.

“Tyler, not now,” I mutter, and he chuckles, kissing my cheek.

“Don’t mind them. I’ve had to put up with them and their women and making out and shit in front of me, so this is nothing.”

“Okay, I need another drink.” I laugh nervously, tucking my hair behind my ear. “You boys have fun. Tyler, come and find me in a little while, okay?”

“Of course.”

Walking over to the bar, I make myself another vodka soda, and then head back over to the bonfire, laughing at what I’m seeing. Ally is dancing behind the hay bale where Courtney and Mel are sitting, raising her cup in air as she spins.

“How many has she had?” I ask, and Ally dances her way over to me.

“A few,” she slurs. “But these bitches won’t dance with me, so I have to by myself.”

“Because no one else is,” Ash tells her, rolling her eyes.

“It’s a party, Trash-ley. Dance!” Oh boy, Ally’s pulling out our old favorite nickname for Ashley.

“Okay, Ally-cat, let’s sit for a little bit.” Grabbing her hand, I make her sit on a hay bale with me and she hugs me tight.

“Did you make up with Ty?”

“Yeah, you were gone awhile, Ellie,” Courtney says.

“We talked, yes,” I tell them, sipping my drink to hide my smile.

“And?” Mel prompts.

“And…we may have went off to his truck for a little while and showed each other just how much we love each other.”

“Love?” Ally says excitedly, practically bouncing where she sits.

“Yes, love,” I tell them, this time not hiding the smile that takes over my face. “And he also just kissed me in front of half the party to seal the deal.”

“Go, Ty,” Courtney praises. “Now maybe you’ll take a day off and stop baking faster than I can sell it all.”

“Oh, please,” I scoff. “Everything is selling.”
