“I think you mean the woman,” I snorted.

Her lips twitched with a knowing smile. “While I’ll concede that women tend to…get emotional at some point, you’d be surprised at how many men forget their place when another man comes sniffing around.”

That was two points for the women now.

“But why would another man be coming around?” I asked. “How many friends-with-benefits does one girl need?”

“How many does a man need?” she shot back. “If no one is looking for love, what’s the problem with having a couple of guys available to satisfy a woman’s needs?”

“Why have two when one can satisfy them all?” I fired back.

“That’s your male ego talking, Landen,” she chuckled. “Some nights, I might need bruises left on my hips-"

Jesus fucking Christ.

“-Other nights, I might need some cuddling. I’ll need a different guy for each craving.”

“No, you don’t,” I argued. “One man can do all that.”

“The man that can do it all is not a friends-with-benefits, Landen,” she replied. “The man that’s doing it all would be theboyfriend.”

Skylar was officially kicking my ass on this debate.

Throwing caution to the win, I said, “Well, I have a proposition for you.”

She arched a perfectly blonde brow. “Oh, you do, do you?”

“Since my team is so damn concerned with my less-than-friendly disposition, how about you help me work out my stress?” I finally asked. “Strictly friends-with-benefits, since you claim that it would be no problem for you.”

The woman shocked the shit out of me when she said, “No one can know.”

“Well, no shit, Sky,” I snorted. “While this might be reckless, I’m not a complete moron.”

She let out a deep breath. “Okay, yeah…right.”

I eyed her, praying that we weren’t making a huge mistake. “I think that we need to get something out of the way first,” I told her.

“What’s that?”

“I think that we need to see if we got that chemistry that you’re so hung up about.”

Completely unafraid, and with more confidence than I had expected, Skylar stood up and smirked at me. “Well, then what are you waiting for?”

It took everything that I had not to sprint across the goddamn room. After making a case that women were the emotionally eager ones, I needed to look like I had my shit under control.

When I was finally standing in front of her, my heart felt like it was going to beat clean out of my chest, and that was enough to let me know that I had plenty of chemistry on my end.

I lifted my hand, slid it around her neck, grabbed the back of it in a tight grip, then hauled her sexy body up against mine. “Last chance to change your mind, Ms. McKay,” I said, giving her fair warning.

“Show me what you got, Mr. Rush,” she dared me.

Tightening my hold on the back of her neck, I dropped my lips to hers, and she tasted like I was going to have the time of my life defiling her.

As soon as we came up for air, I said, “Meet me tonight.”

“Okay,” she whispered roughly, and I barely had enough willpower to walk out of her office.
