“No.”

“Good.”I grinned.“If you want to love one person, or two, or fifty, that’s up to you.Never listen to anyone who tries to squash that in you.”

“Thank you.”He was already vanishing into the crowds.

Someone pressed into my back and wrapped their arms around my waist.“Mini-you.Too adorable,” Brandon said.

“With any luck, his journey won’t hurt as much.”Not that I’d surrender what I had—who I had—for anything.I leaned my weight against him and pulled his arms tighter, while I watched Reese working her way through autographs. She looked at us with a smile, then turned back to her fans.

This was all perfect, the way the three of us were meant to be.

Reese

As the group of our fans thinned and dissipated, the buzz of another amazing show still thrummed in my veins.Danny and Brandon joined me, and Danny nodded toward the escalator.“We have company.”

Adrienne waved, then rested her hand on her belly. She was pregnant enough to pop, and I’d never seen her happier.I also had no idea how she’d managed working at all today, but she insisted she was fine as long as she was careful.

That hadn’t stopped Dustin and Phillip from sticking her in a chair every time they saw her.Apparently it was the best compromise the three could make.

We joined her.“Hey, happy momma,” I said.

Her smile grew.If being on stage made me glow, she outshone me by a thousand watts.“You guys were amazing tonight.”

“Of course we were.”

Brandon scoffed, but he was smiling too.

“And I’m glad I got to you before you left,” Adrienne said.“We wanted to talk to you, but Dustin got pulled away, then Phillip had to go help, and they made me stay here…” She blew out a puff of air.“God, I’mso bored.”

“Poor baby has to be good for her baby.”I was sympathetic, rather than mocking.

Adrienne laughed.“Which was why we—or just me now—wanted to talk to you.The three of us were talking…” She twisted her fingers together and sighed.“We want the three of you to be the baby’s godparents.”

The offer pinged in my heart, and felt better than all the applause in the world.“Are you serious?”

She nodded.

“I can’t speak for them, but I’d be honored,” I said.

Danny squeezed one of my hands, and Brandon the other.“Same.”They spoke together.

“Yay.”Adrienne hugged me tight.“Not that I thought you’d sayno, but there’s always some doubt. And you’ll all be perfect, and you’ve really become just the most amazing friend.”She snapped her jaw shut, and stepped back sheepishly.“Andyay.”

We chatted with her some more, made sure she was delivered safely back to Phillip, then headed out.The warmth in my chest spread through all of me, as I thought about her request.About the men by my side.

When I lost Mom, when I lost Danny, I had decided I was safer alone.

I was so glad I’d learned since then.So grateful to have this new family.
