“I’ll only be happy if you’re not working. Do you have that damn tablet?”

“No,” I answered too quickly. I shut my eyes.

“Bullshit. Do not pull it out of your bag. Take in the breathtaking sunset in beautiful Jamaica. And it’s a fucking Sunday, Nik.”

“You better not let Daddy hear you curse on a Sunday,” I warned, half-teasing. My father was a principled man. Never drank, smoked, or cursed. He would chastise my brother, who had the worst potty mouth, all the time.

“I’m serious.”

“Okay...okay. I won’t do any work the rest of the evening.”

“Do you know how lucky you are to get a free trip to Jamaica? My first trip out of the country will be my honeymoon to Cancun, and that’s costing us a pretty penny.”

“It’s not free. I’ve been working my butt off for these workshops throughout the city and the states. This is the first time I’ve earned a trip to a conference out of the country after seven years with this company.”

“You know what I mean. Have fun, get some good D and become a happy woman.”

I chuckled. “That’s always been your answer to happiness.”

My brother snickered. “And I stand by it. Nothing wrong with a little sex here and there.”

“Mm...hmmm...let me find out you’re still out there in these streets.”

He laughed. “Naw...them days are over. Love my woman. I’m good. Just giving you permission to live a little.”

“Thanks, but no thanks, our definition of living is way different. I get too attached once I have sex with a man.”

“That’s a problem you need to solve. There’s nothing like some good sex. It’s so freeing and better when you enjoy the moment and not be focused on what happens next. You really should try it. Guarantee you won’t regret it. And Jamaica is the perfect place since you’re only there until Wednesday. No time to get serious anyway.”

“Whatever.” I glanced at the setting sun. “Let me go and at least enjoy the horizon. Call you tomorrow.”

“Alright, and...Getcha Sum.” He rapped Hasizzle on the phone before clicking off.

“Like it’s that easy,” I muttered as I rose and walked toward the ocean, allowing the surprisingly warm water to wash over my feet as I enjoyed the transition from day to night.
