All the guys scrambled to take up the daggers, and Miss Sage launched over to snatch up one as well. She was quick and nimble, throwing herself at the closest creature, clambering up its back and taking it down with ease by driving the dagger through its throat repeatedly.

I jumped into action, calling forth my hellfire as more and more creatures surrounded us. My hellhounds were easily taking care of the vast majority of the smaller creatures as they dashed through them with incredible speed, and Diane and Hadley had already brought down two of the larger ones.

Now we actually had a chance.

My golden hellfire erupted forth, that deep power flooding through me and warming me to my very core. My fear died down as a level of focus set in, and I commanded my fire to attack the nearest shadow creature and engulf it.

To my relief, the creature shrieked as it disintegrated within my flames, and I smiled inwardly as I continued on, attacking creature after creature and bringing them down like dominoes.

More gunshots sounded off, and more of the shadow creatures disintegrated.

Wayne must’ve gotten his hands on some angelic bullets, that was the only explanation. That would sure come in handy.

Especially since Mr. Baron was using two pistols to try to fight them.

I gritted my teeth as I continued to will my fire onward, the drain wearing down on me. I fought through the sudden fatigue at the large-scale control I was performing. This was nothing like training, where I’d only drawn out weaker flames. No, I had these ones at full power, not willing to risk it.

I couldn’t falter now, even if it was putting a strain on me.

We were winning, we’d taken out over half the shadow creatures in the last few minutes with ease. All thanks to Paris and Wayne showing up, and my hellfire.

Wayne, Paris, and Miss Sage made quick work of the remaining smaller creatures, along with my hellhounds.

The guys had taken up the daggers, although only Matthew, Flynn, and Thomas rushed into the fray. Hershel, Dylan, and Xander continued to fire bolts and arrows instead to slow the creatures down, and I knew they didn’t have enough faith in themselves to wield the daggers with the same mastery as the others.

I grimaced as I collapsed to one knee, pain flaring up deep inside me.

Too much. I’d overexerted myself. My intense power was nearly completely depleted, and I hissed in frustration.

At least I’d helped a fair bit. If I continued to push myself, I had no idea what would happen. And considering the internal pain was slowly increasing, I decided it was best to pull back now.

There were only a few creatures left, and I knew Chum and Bug could take them down with ease.

I drew my fire back within me, wiping the sweat from my brow as I bowed over and rested my hands on my knees.

I drew in shaky breaths as the pain ebbed away inside me, and I grimaced as I straightened.

Diane and Hadley had amazingly dealt with several of the large ones on their own, although they looked quite depleted and worn as well.

I watched as Chum and Bug took down a medium sized one together, while Paris took down one of the remaining smaller ones, and Wayne shot the last one.

The finality of that gunshot and the silencing of the creatures snarling and shrieks made my shoulders drop.

We’d done it.
