How would they possibly manage the giant horde though? There had to be at least thirty or forty of them.

They were easily outnumbered, and I felt no relief when I saw Mr. Baron and Miss Sage join the battle. Especially since they were using demonic weapons as well.

Dezikiel wasn’t here, and none of us knew where his sword was.

For all we knew, he had it on his person.

Even with Diane and Hadley against these creatures, they were going to struggle massively, and the chance of triumph was quickly fading away to nothing.

I had to help them. I drew in sharp breaths at the thought of them falling to these foul creatures. I could tell the guys were already losing heart considering they were exchanging panicked shouts now.

My golden hellfire might just be the answer. I wasn’t sure though since we hadn’t been able to test it out.

But I wasn’t about to wait for someone to get hurt or worse.

Without some assistance, my friends were going to die.

I dashed out of the hallway despite Xander’s protests, my breaths coming out in short rasps. My hellhounds would be out there any second now, so hopefully they could bide me some time while I raced out to join the fray.

Fear tore through me as I thought of facing off with those vile creatures, but the panic of losing any of my friends, all fighting for me right now, overrode that.

I would not be the reason anyone died in this fight.

If I could help, I wouldn’t hold back.

Xander tore after me, but I ignored his shouts as I made my way outside as quickly as possible.

As I burst through the doors, another wave of terror washed over me at the sight of all the shadow creatures set out before me.

They were closing in, and my fellow students were getting backed up towards the building, even with Diane and Hadley hurling their magic and casting all sorts of spells. Many of the creatures were restrained or ensnared in magic, but they were breaking through. It was clear their magic was being stretched thin across the mass of creatures attacking.

Chum and Bug were in their half forms, slashing apart the smaller creatures while Diane and Hadley worked mainly to keep the larger ones at bay.

Everyone else was still fighting them, despite knowing that their weapons were useless. I could see the lines of panic on the guys faces though, and Dylan cast me a terrified look before gritting his teeth and reloading his crossbow.

I flinched as a gunshot sounded off, and I whipped my head to the side.

My stomach lurched as Wayne surged up out of a shadow nearby, the top half of his body jutting up from the earth as he fired off a few rounds into a decent-sized monster.

I watched as the creature screeched and convulsed before it disintegrated, and Wayne disappeared back into the shadow.

“Here!” Paris cried out, and I caught sight of her exploding forth from a shadow cast by Thomas.

Most of the guys were huddled in the one spot, keeping their backs together as they fired off bolts, and they glanced over their shoulders at her.

She tossed a handful of daggers at their feet before she disappeared back within the shadow.

She reappeared behind one of the monsters, launching up at it and slashing its chest open with a dagger she held.

The creature shrieked, clawing at its chest as it fell over backwards, black steam erupting from the wound.

Paris leaped on top of it, not hesitating as she plunged her dagger deep into its chest.

It screeched as it disintegrated beneath her, and she was off once more, dashing towards the next one with a vengeance.

“They’re angelic daggers, they can kill angelics!” Paris shouted as she dodged a swipe from the next monster, twirling up and driving her dagger into its ribcage.

Despite everything, a part of me still found the chance to be impressed by her prowess at close combat.
