“Nothing’s wrong, don’t stress,” he said quickly as he sensed my unease.

“You’ve just been sleeping for a while,” Bug said softly. “We’ve been watching over you. Closing the gates really depleted you.”

“How long have I been asleep?” I asked slowly as I forced myself to relax. I knew they were being sincere.

Jack shot a look at Bug, but as I stared at him, I just knew, as if I pulled the information from his head.

“I’ve been sleeping for a week?!” I balked, and he frowned at me.

“Yes, how’d you know—"

“A whole week?!” I gaped as I looked out my window. That was insane! Had I soiled myself? Would I have lost weight? That was nuts!

“Relax, you didn’t soil yourself,” Jack chuckled, then his frown deepened. “You didn’t say that out loud, did you?”

“No…” I mumbled as I met his confused gaze.

“You could hear us when you were closing the gates, in your mind. I did wonder if that stuck around,” Bug mused as I looked at him.

“Like telepathy?” That would certainly be something, but now that he said it, I had heard their voices in my mind when I’d closed the gates.

“Apparently. Can you hear me now if I focus and try to talk directly to you?” Jack said as I focused back on him.

‘Can you hear this? That I’m thinking of the number 27?’

“Yes, I can, and you’re thinking 27,” I muttered, completely stunned. I could hear him as clear as a bell in my mind.

‘Can you hear me?’I sent back, and he nodded.

“Yes, I can.”

“That’s insane,” I whistled as I shook my head. I was telepathic now?

“Only with us I believe, we can’t hear anyone else but you,” Bug shared.

“Still, it’s crazy, right?” I snorted.

“Considering you altered us so that we have angel grace and grow wings, and you closed the gates of Hell using siphoned power off all the angels in Heaven, I don’t think telepathy is a massive stretch,” Jack chuckled.

“I wonder if I could hear Diane,” I mumbled as I looked to my bedroom door. “How is everyone?”

“They’re all fine, they’ve all come home now that everything is over. Dezikiel is running the Academy again, Jophiel got reinstated and went back to Heaven. Everything has been good. As per your request, demonics get to choose if they want to hunt down the demons that broke through. Some of the graduates have already opted out, but quite a few stayed on. Guess it’s all they know how to do,” Jack filled me in.

“Has anyone left here?” I asked quickly, but he shook his head.

“Nope, no one has actually graduated. Dezikiel has to deem them safe enough to be given the all-clear to go off and live their own lives. But it’s opened a whole new can of worms. Flynn’s been asking about whether he can return home now that demons aren’t busting through rips. Lucifer explained that even though the gates are closed, a demon can still be summoned, but that’s the only way one can come to the earthly plane now, so Flynn’s true nature should no longer be a problem, especially since demonics have protection from angels now, thanks to you. Just not human hunters,” Jack explained.

Right, human hunters, the one other variable that we couldn’t alter. But in the grand scheme of things, Flynn would be okay.

“Doesn’t his mom think he’s dead?” I questioned, and he nodded. “How would that go?”

“An angel could adjust the belief they implanted in her mind, so she knows he didn’t die, but it depends on the butterfly effect too, how many people around know.” Jack looked sad and sympathetic for our friend, and I sighed, wishing I could help.

“Dezikiel is entertaining the idea that if she’s willing to completely up and move, cut all ties to her life, then Flynn could go back, but Flynn isn’t sure he wants to do that to her. They need to figure that out,” Bug stated as he rose off the bed.

“Well, look who’s finally awake. I thought I heard your voice.”

I looked to my door, a smile spreading as the sisters stood there, grinning madly with Dezikiel behind them.
