CHAPTERSIX

My stomach turned as I looked at Leo’s outstretched hand. “Not big on shaking?” he asked, before putting it back down at his side. “Surprising, considering how easily you let the limo driver go down on you. One would think a simple handshake would be nothing in comparison.”

My cheeks flamed at the accusation. “Did you enjoy the show?” I snapped. I might have been in a pure state of disbelief, but I was not about to let his man get the best of me. I would sooner light myself on fire with a can of Aqua net than allow him to know that he’d gotten the better of me.

“I did,” he said, his eyes looking me up and down. “I’m not usually into voyeurism, but it bodes well for our future together that you enjoyed yourself so thoroughly.”

This time it was my turn to chuckle. “You are insane if you think I’d let you touch me.”

He did not seem put off by my mannerisms. “Your father had declared you as mine. Once we are married, I can do whatever the hell I want with you.” His voice was cold and detached, as though he were talking about the weather instead of our lives. He straightened his jacket and took a small sip of his drink.

“I can assure you that it won’t be that easy.”

“Ah yes,” he said, his dark eyes looking me up and down. It felt as though he were caressing my skin, and I had to bite my lip to keep myself from fidgeting. There was something about Leo that made me feel at ease and uncomfortable all at the same time, and I had only spent a few moments in his presence. “I have heard about you.”

I crossed my arms over my chest and fixed him with a deep scowl.

“And what exactly have you heard?”

He leaned forward. We were so close that I could see the hints of stubble on his jaw, and I could smell the vodka on his breath. His eyes, which I had thought were deep brown, were actually endless pools of black. They were so dark that I felt myself shivering at the sight of them. He looked like the devil, and it was clear that he knew it.

“Are you trying to scare me?” I asked, my tone nonchalant. “I can assure you that it won’t work.” Though my insides were trembling, I did my best to appear unaffected by him.

I suspected that he saw right through me, because he lifted a hand and reached out to touch a strand of my hair that was hanging loose from the updo I’d managed. “I like a challenge,” he said, voice low.

A slow smile unfurled on my red lips. He was trying to use sex on me. Oldest trick in the book, and one that I had perfected over the years. If he wanted to play, we could play. After all, I wasn’t opposed to screwing around, despite what I’d told him. It would just never be within the confines of marriage.

“I can assure you,” I whispered, placing my lips near his ear. My body was pressed against his, and if anyone looked over, they’d likely be scandalized by our closeness. But no one was watching us. The drinks had been pouring for hours, and things were starting to turn from classy to rowdy. “I am more than you can handle.”

I felt him shudder slightly as I trailed my hands down the front of his chest. Even confined by his jacket and button up, I could feel the hard planes of his muscles. I clenched my thighs at the thought of getting him naked.

“I need a new toy. After all, you got my last one killed.” I pulled away just as I skimmed over the top of his belt. He was hard.

I smirked as I looked at him.

“You don’t seem to be upset.”

I shrugged. “Stephan knew what he was getting himself into.” I’d miss the guy’s cock, but I was not going to mourn a man I barely knew. He knew that if he got caught with me, that his actions would have consequences.

Leo shook his head, and there was a small smile on his face. “I bet he had no idea what he was getting himself into.” There was a tone of condemnation in his voice. It was one that I was familiar with because I often heard it when Natasha talked to me. She was going to have something to say about Stephan, and it was likely she was going to blame me for what happened.

“Maybe he should have been thinking with the head on his shoulders instead of the one in his pants.”

He shook his head, and he caressed my cheek as he withdrew himself from my body. He opened his mouth to say something else, but a loud booming clap on his back sent him forward slightly. He reached out, so that we would not slam into one another.

Annoyance lit his eyes, and I was sure that it was reflected in my own.

“There you are.”

I looked past Leo’s shoulders to see another man. Younger with light blue eyes flecked with green and light, sandy colored hair. He had an easy smile on his face, and while he was also handsome in a classic kind of way, he lacked the intensity that Leo radiated.

“Isaac.” Leo’s voice was hard as he spoke.

“Where the fuck have you been?” He looked past Leo, and his eyes landed on me. Immediately, there was a hunger I recognized in his gaze, and it made me feel powerful. This guy was typical. I could lead him around by his dick with minimal effort, and that gave me power.

“Hi there,” he said. “I don’t think that we’ve met.”

Leo’s eyes flashed, and I felt a thrill of delight at the idea of being able to annoy him with his friend. This was going to be easy. A boon.
