I snorted.

“I thought that not having to marry Leo would be enough of a boon for you.”

“Hardly,” I told him. “My father would just find someone else.”

“Someone else might be easier to control. Leo Petrov is not going to allow himself to be your little boy toy. From what I know of the asshole, he’s got control issues, especially when it comes to women.”

I wondered what Leo had done to Andrea’s sister, and why. I did not even know that the Blanchis had a sister, let alone one that was murdered.

Not that it mattered one way or another to me. The girl had fallen into a trap, and she’d paid the price. It was her own fault if you asked me.

“If you don’t think that I can handle Leo, why come to me?”

“Because even if you can’t handle him, you can get close to him. You are going to be his wife after all.”

I bit my lip as I thought through what Andrea was saying to me. I should have felt worse at the prospect of screwing over my own family, but I didn’t. My father had passed me over for Leo, who had preyed on a young, vulnerable girl. And though I did not have the most sympathy for her as I should have, it just proved to me that he was a scumbag.

Really, I would be saving the Bratva. After all, if he was willing to screw a Blanchi girl, how loyal could he be? I ignored how I was sitting across from the future right hand of the organization discussing how I could murder Leo.

“All we need you to do is feed us information. We can do the heavy lifting.”

I shook my head. “No dice.”

Andrea breathed out a frustrated sigh. “Look, I know that this is a lot to ask, and trust me, I don’t like relying on you to get to him…”

He trailed off as I shook my head. “I’m not so sentimental that I am upset about the idea of Leo Petrov dead.”

“Then, what is the issue? If he dies, you might be able to convince your father to marry you off to someone else. Someone that you can control.”

“That’s not enough,” I said.

Andrea’s green eyes looked at me with intensity. He wanted me to agree, and I suspected that he would give me almost anything I wanted. He could not give me the Bratva. I knew that.

If Leo and I did not get married, my father would just marry me off to someone else. Maybe to Leo’s brother, or to someone else that he thought could handle both me and the Bratva.

But I was not going to take this shit lying down. I could still hear Leo’s mocking tone in my mind.

“What is it that you want?”

I looked Andrea dead in the eye, so that he knew that I was not joking. “I want to be the one who kills Leo.”

I would have laughed at the comical look on his face if I wasn’t so satisfied in the knowledge that Leo Petrov would pay for mocking me. It would be just as sweet as being named Pakhan to see his face when I pulled the trigger.

“Done.”
