“She does now.”
“Well, you need to figure out before you get married if that’s something you can give to her. It is not fair to marry her if you’re not willing to give her children unless she knows that’s the case. Did the doctor explain how much harder it will be to get pregnant?”
“Well, she only has one ovary and one fallopian tube. So 50% less chance.”
“Exactly, it could honestly take years, Jamie.”
“Or it could never happen?”
“Yes.”
“I want her to have children, it’s what she wants, but I just don’t want her to die.”
“I’m sure she’ll be quick to see a doctor if she gets pregnant. They will definitely watch for ectopic pregnancies. It may never happen again.”
“So I should have sex with her?”
“I think holding back a part of yourself is not good for either of you. It’s not at all realistic to think you’ll never have sex again. It’s preposterous really.”
“I just thought we could do other things.”
“Jamie, just as I’d tell Stella, don’t let your fear control you.It’s something that ruins relationships. I know you don’t want that. If it hurts, she’ll tell you to stop.”
“I have to go.”
“Where are you going?”
“To see Stella.”
He smiled a knowing smile.
I threw a fifty-dollar bill on the counter and went to the elevator.
Walking into the hotel, I can’t find Stella. As always fear courses through me. She said she’d stay forever and always.Don’t let your fear control you, Jamie.I walk into the bedroom and oh my God. I spin her around so she’s facing me.
“Jamie, are you angry?”
“No.”
“You look different.”
“Lay on the bed Stella, now.”
“Are you drunk? Is that it?”
“Everything is fine. Do as you’re told or I’ll spank you.”
She gasped and laid on the bed.
“God Stella. You’re so fucking beautiful.”
