“I can’t believe you said yes.”
I glance over at him.
“Really?”
“I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I love you, baby.”
“I love you too. I’m the lucky one.”
“We’ll have to agree to disagree,” he said.
“Let’s go to the bedroom. I want to hold your naked body close to mine.”
“You’re very dominating.”
“I know I am. I also know you love it. Now get into bed.”
I climbed into the bed where he was and put my head on his chest as I ran my hand up and down his body. We laid there the rest of the night and it was everything. As I was falling asleep I heard him say, “Twelve days baby. In twelve days you’ll be my wife.”

CHAPTER 24
Twelve days later…
Today is the day I’m getting married. He spent the night at Alexander’s last night. I missed him so much that it literally hurt. Jamie, makes all of my pain from the past simply disappear. I can’t wait to marry him. He is my forever. I can’t imagine a world without him in it and I don’t want to.
Walking to the kitchen, Scarlet comes in. Her belly is getting big, so big. I’m a little jealous, but today I’m simply focusing on Jamie. I go to make my coffee. It’s almost time to get ready. I hear a knock at the door and look at Scarlet. She shrugs her shoulders and answers it. It’s Alexander. He kisses her cheek as I stare at him.
“He changed his mind,” I didn’t realize I spoke my words out loud.
“Not a chance. He wanted me to bring you something.”
He hands me a box with an envelope.
“He wants you to open it privately.”
I wandered off to the bedroom to see what was inside.
I opened the box first, and it was a beautiful diamond bracelet with a bar on the front engraved with “Forever and Always”.
I opened the note card. I read it as tears stung my eyes.
My Dearest Stella,
Today is finally the day. The last two weeks have seemed like the longest two weeks of my life. In case you’re getting cold feet, I want you to know that I love you more than you could imagine. Without you, my chest feels heavy. It’s hard to breathe. With you, my world aligns. Everything is better. I thought I had experienced love before we met. But I know now that I had not felt true, deep love. Please show up. I can’t be me without you.

Immediately, I grab my phone. He needs to know that I will show up.
To: Jamie
I will show up. I love you. There’s no cold feet here, just toasty ones that cannot wait to be your wife. Thank you for the gift. I’ll see you soon.
I need to get into my dress. My hair and makeup are already done. Scarlet helped me into my gown and put the veil on for me. I stand in front of the mirror once again, feeling emotional. I’ve been cut off from my feelings for so long that I am taken aback by the overwhelming feelings I’m experiencing today.
