"Shut up," he grumbled.

She didn't answer him, afraid she'd let her giggle loose if she did. She plopped down on the carpet and cracked her knuckles as she got ready to get down to business.

With the meeting a little over two days away, she had to figure out her game plan. What could she use against these people to get her what she wanted? She didn't want to use the woman's children against her, but she would, if she had to.

"Are you going to sit down there all night?" Blaine gruff voice broke through the silence in the room.

"Until I'm done working, yes," she responded, bring up a word document on her screen to write down a to-do list for once she got home.

Things were silent again and Mykie thought about how she was going to present her case. Should she go in with a chip on her shoulder from the beginning, or should she give them false sense of security first? She firstly needed to make sure she came off as a professional who knew what she was doing. If she didn't, the plan would never work, and they wouldn’t take her ser—

"I'm not going to go to sleep until you lay down," Blaine grumbled, killing her train of thought.

"I have a job to do," she stated.

"Which can wait until the morning," he said, but his voice was muffled from the pillows on his bed.

Mykie smirked.

"It's morning right now."

"It's not morning until I wake up," he reasoned.

Her smirked deflated into a frown. "Fine. I'm not doing it because you suggested it, though. I was already feeling tired," she huffed. She pushed the lid on her laptop down after she sent her to-do list to her phone and set it on top of her clothing bag.

"Whatever you want to believe, sweetheart," he said just as she came over to the bed. She caught the grin on his face before he made eye contact with her and it was quickly wiped from his face.

"Don't call me that," she snapped, but it felt halfhearted. Sort of like Noah's complaints whenever she told him not to do something or mothered him.

"Does it bother you?" he jested.

She rolled her eyes. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of answering him, especially when he was starting to joke and tease her. Play hard to get but show a little interest after a while. That's what Jezebeth always said whenever she came home with numbers from the pub. She wasn't looking to get involved Blaine, but the least she could do was prove that she was worth talking to. Friendship was better than whatever they had up until then.

She reached for the hair tie on her wrist and started to pull her hair up into a bun, careful to grab all of her hair.

"What are you doing?" he asked, drawing her eyes back to him. He was sitting up slightly, leaning an arm on his pillow with his head in his hand. She resisted allowing her gaze to wander down beyond his face.

"You ask a lot of questions. What do you think I'm doing? I'm putting my hair up so I can go to bed." she huffed when she pulled some of her hair through the hair tie, but not all of it. She'd have to pull it out and start over again.

"Why? Don't girls like to let their hair down at night?"

Mykie had to pause in her second attempt to put her hair up. Was he seriously holding a conversation with her about women's sleeping habits?

"I have long hair," she said slowly. "I'm sure you'd be angry if you woke up with my hair in your face."

He laid there for a moment staring down at the edge of the bed, almost like he was thinking about the logic of her words.

He suddenly looked up and scowled. "Leave it down. I'm sure we can stay on our own sides of the bed without issue." He turned over and laid his head on his pillow before she could form a response.

She pulled the comforter blanket back and climbed onto the bed. His bed felt much higher off the floor than Renly's. Instead of sitting down on it, someone at Mykie's height had to actively lift her legs to climbupon the bed.

"If you're sure—"

"I'm trying to sleep," he snapped, but he didn't turn back over to face her.

Mykie glared at his back and hoped he could feel her staring at her. However, when he still didn't move she huffed and slid under the covers. She fluffed the pillow angrily and slammed her head down onto it, muttering, "Prick."

He didn't verbally respond to her, but she was almost sure that she felt the bed shake a little with his laughter.
