Blackhawk: Fine. Losing both Mongoose and Oblivion. It just feels like we failed.

Blackhawk: At the bike. Going off.

I watched as he mounted his bike, knowing he wouldn’t drop this anytime soon. I’d have to be vigilant about making sure she wasn’t able to reach out. I needed her to hate him. Good thing I’d already planned for that with the gifts and messages.

As the red and blue lights flickered on the monitor, the last piece of my plan fell into place. She’d have a hard time contacting us now. I knew she’d been picked up before for minor things, but there wasn’t a judge in the state that would let her off the hook for breaking and entering. If only I’d thought ahead of time about pinning Mongoose’s murder on her. Then I really wouldn’t have to deal with her.

He’d been a liability I hadn’t seen coming. Oh well, in the end, he’d gotten himself killed. I only wish I’d had more time to prepare so I could’ve used it more to my advantage.

As they escorted Finley to a police car, I began to wipe the clone accounts and closed out all the tabs I had opened. The tracker on Ryker’s phone alerted me to him arriving, so I finished up all the back-end things as I waited.

When the door to our room opened, I spun around and smiled as he entered. Standing, I walked over to him, picking up the bottle of tequila we’d been saving. I couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across my face.

“I think a shot is in order?”

He peered up at me, sighing. “Let’s get it all submitted first. I don’t want to count our chickens too soon.”

Rolling my eyes, I set it down and spread out all the information we’d collected over the past year. This was part of the initiation we hadn’t shared with Mongoose or Oblivion either, leading me to believe he hadn’t wanted to from the start, planning on cutting them out, to begin with. It was only because Oblivion turned out to be a girl that Ryker had changed his mind.

“What do you think they’re going to do with it all?” he asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. “Does it matter? We were asked to find information on some safe houses, troubled kids, and organizations that could be exploited. We have it. Now, we turn it over.”

“I know, but it feels wrong.” He peered up at me, and I saw the doubt that had been creeping more and more into his eyes reflected there.

“This is everything we’ve been working on for the past two years! Don’t fall apart on me now. We’ll be rich and have more power than we could’ve dreamed of. This is it, man. Just think of all the things you can buy. The freedom of never being hungry or worrying about which bill to pay this month.”

Ryker sighed, dropping his head and letting out a long breath. He raised it after a few seconds, a smile spreading across it. “You’re right. I’ve just been distracted. This is it. No more worries.”

We scanned everything in and hit submit. I ignored how he hesitated when he entered the team members present for the last test. Once it was final, he scooted back, grinning.

“Shot time?”

“Shot time.”

Picking up the bottle, I poured us both one, and we tapped them together before downing the liquid. It only burned slightly and we laughed at the feeling. Sitting on the ground, we passed the bottle between us, toasting our success and the things we planned to do with our money once our tech went live.

“I want the freedom to walk into almost any store and just be able to be like, yes, I want that and not have to worry about it,” Ryker said.

Scoffing, I moved closer to him, falling as I went to grab the bottle and landed on his shoulder. “You can do better than that. I want a flashy car and a house with so many rooms, I forget about them.”

His hand brushed mine as he grabbed the bottle, and I blamed the tequila for my lack of inhibitions. My love for Ryker wasn’t anything new, but doing something about it was. Combined with the success of the evening in both getting rid of Finley Reyes and passing initiation for MKG, I decided to take my chance.

Leaning forward, I pressed my lips against his. He didn’t move away, so I took the opportunity to push harder, my tongue sweeping out to ask for entrance. When he opened for me, I cried joyfully and pressed further, owning his mouth like I’d always wanted.

Things escalated quickly as we both got naked, rolling around on the ground, the empty bottle of tequila next to us. Reaching down, I pulled on his hard cock, knowing I wanted it more than anything else.

We didn’t say anything as he plunged into me, the pain of the intrusion lasting for a moment before he was pumping with drunken movements. Neither of us lasted long, spilling out onto the floor, adding to the spilled remains of our shot glasses. Ryker rolled over, a snore leaving him a moment later, and I soon followed, too high on the success of a job well done.

I’d gotten everything I wanted in one evening. Ryker. Money. Prestige.

Which meant that it all had to fall down around me in the morning leading me to transfer schools.

But I never forgot Ryker. If anything, my obsession for him only grew, and I vowed to become so powerful he’d never be able to push me aside ever again.

Ryker would be mine or no one’s.
