“That’s so not how I talk, may I add. You are…” I begin, but lose my train of thought.

“You’re drunk,” he says, his breath hot against my ear.

“Good guess,” I murmur, turning onto my side and laying my head on his shoulder. I hug him tight to my chest while my eyes start to droop.

He tenses.

“Relax, I’m not going to do anything to you,” I say, getting comfortable and forgetting all about the cold snow pressing against my butt.

He sighs, but doesn’t move. With my ear against his chest, I listen to his heartbeat. Jesse grunts, shifting a little until he relaxes. Moving his arm, he brushes strands of hair behind my ear. Heat streaks up my body, and my cheeks flame. I keep my eyes closed even when he cups my jaw and lifts my chin. His breath is hot against my lips as his thumb brushes over my bottom lip, and he swears.

“What are you doing to me?” I think I hear him whisper as I slowly drift off with my cheek on his chest.
