“Would Luke spank me too?”

“Absolutely.”

“I have a weird question. Is Luke more in charge? I’m not trying to be disrespectful, it’s just a little fuzzy.”

“It’s not just fuzzy to you, sweetheart. Lucas is my…” I trailed off, trying to think of a way to explain our dynamic. Dom alone didn’t cover what we had established. Boyfriend sounded childish to what we had. Daddy almost painted the whole picture, but not really.

“Everything?” Emma beamed up at me. “Your Dom?” She tapped my nose. “Your partner?” Her hands found mine and she squeezed them. “Your, um, Daddy?”

“Right.” I kissed her lips once. After sharing so much trauma, it seemed fitting, but I hoped I’d interpreted the signals she’d been throwing my way since her arrival correctly.

“Would you and Luke bemy daddies?”

“If you’d trust enough to give the dynamic a chance, yes, I believe we could offer some structure and support where you’ve been missing it lately.”

“So, I can get my knight on a white horse and a knight on a black horse?” Emma giggled again. I loved the way her face lit up when she smiled.

“Maybe. Can you settle for a knight on a brown horse and one on black ice skates?”

“Yeah! I’d really like to make something special happen with both of you, though I’m nervous.”

“Are you willing to trust us, Emma?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

Getting to my feet, I held my hand out. It took the little composure I had left not to melt into a pile of goo in front of her. Instead, I kissed her again. “I’ll cook breakfast and we can all eat together.”

“Would you please carry me downstairs?”

“Of course, sweetheart.”

If I had any doubts previously about not having a heart, they disappeared. With Emma wrapped around me, coupled with Luke’s declaration of love, I found the missing pieces in the puzzle of my life. It was cliche but accurate. I had a little girl and a daddy.

We had a lot to figure out but holding Emma in my arms felt pretty wonderful.

Lucas

Striding through the house, I searched for my brats, only to have completely missed them hanging out in the kitchen. I leaned against the doorjamb, watching Elias flip pancakes. Emma sat on the other side of the stove, stealing from the huge plate of bacon and giggling. Elias waggled a spatula at her, but it made her laugh harder. She brightened up the entire room.

“Something smells delicious.” Entering the kitchen, I bridged the gap between the three of us. Emma reached her arms out to me, and I picked her up. “I see you’re eating all the bacon.”

“I left you some!”

Setting her into one of the kitchen chairs, I turned and grabbed plates for us. Focusing on making the table nice helped me think about what I wanted to say to her.

“I’m sorry for rushing away from our conversation, Emma. I wanted to discuss some serious things, and when you told me about your situation, I couldn’t think straight.”

“I’d imagine it’s more difficult to think straight when you’re not,” she teased, a huge grin on her face.

“Oh. I see how it is.” I grabbed her chin. “Do you really want to eat breakfast while sitting on a hot bottom?”

“For speaking the truth?”

“No, darling, for poking me.” I winked. “Go ahead.”

“We haven't established those rules yet. So, I can poke as hard as I want.”

Chuckling, I shook my head. “Uh, huh. Well, you’re sort of right. Here’s the first rule. Don’t poke me unless you want a reaction.” I released my hold on her. “That goes for both of you.”
