“If you’re not home, how are you even going to know?” I huffed.

“I expect you to obey the rules, whether or not I’m here.”

He was so darn logical, and he really had a good point. Shifting my gaze to Dane, I wanted to know his take on the situation. “Are you going to give me additional rules to follow, Dane?”

“Not additional ones. No.” Dane twirled a mug through his fingers. “But I will make sure you’re minding them.”

Nodding, I gazed at Tanner, my eyes drifting to his huge biceps. It was like they had grown bigger overnight. “If I’m following rules, does that mean I also get rewards?”

“Sure, buttercup,” Tanner said as a grin broke over his face. “Rewards are the best part of all this.”

“Sex?” I blurted out.

“No, you don’t have to earn sex.” He winked. “But I like where your head’s at.”

“It is pretty good,” I admitted slyly. “Oh, you meant my mind.” Licking my lips, I traced my fingers over his right arm all the way up to his neck.

“Careful, sunshine,” Dane tsked. “Sir is in a mood.”

Tanner cocked an eyebrow, leaning back on the stool and glancing between us. “I usually am. Do you want to add to that, rebel?”

“I’m just saying if Tiana gets you going—” His phone rang, interrupting whatever he’d been poised to say. “Excuse me. I’ve got to take this.” Dane excused himself from the kitchen.

“I thought he was off from work today,” I pouted.

“He was supposed to be, but his company doesn’t give a fuck about personal time. They think all his time belongs to them.” Tanner shook his head. “I’ve been telling him for almost two years to leave.”

“Isn’t he the owner?” I finished my delicious coffee. “I don’t really understand.”

“Sort of,” Tanner confirmed. “Dane manages a significant portion, as well as owning shares and stocks. His parents, unfortunately, have more firepower than him, Eloise, and Drew put together.”

“I haven’t spoken to Eli in years,” I lamented sadly. “She was probably the only one who liked me between her and her brother.”

“Drew?” Tanner scoffed. “Please. He’s only grumpy on the outside. He was running his own branch by the time he was twenty and had a lot of crap on his shoulders. Drew has mellowed out a lot.”

“Oh?”

“They’re both moving back here, but that’s a story for another time. Back to the topic at hand.” Tanner tapped the notebook with his finger. “If you agree, write each one three times.”

“You said twice.”

“That was before you threw a fit instead of discussing them.”

“Will you sit here with me, Sir?”

“Yes, darling.” He kissed my lips. “If you have questions, we’ll talk, but I think these rules will help you.”

Tanner handed me a pen, and I began writing. There was something oddly soothing about reading the rule and carefully re-writing it in the space underneath. None of the rules were hard to follow, at least on paper, but it would take some time getting used to immediate repercussions. “You must have gotten up early and thought about it a lot.”

“I did.” He leaned back and took a large sip from his mug. “You’re important to me.”

“So, I didn’t see anything about titles. Is there anything special you want me to call you?”

“Unless I tell you to refer to me by a certain title, you can still use my name.” Tanner nodded. “Is there a particular one on your mind, buttercup?”

“Do you, um, want me to call you Daddy?”

He cupped my cheek. “If you’re comfortable with it, I’d love for you to call me Daddy.”
