The psychopath needs to go,now.

“We were having breakfast when the first explosion went off. The perimeter wall was breached before we even got the security notification. Within the first minute of the attack, 6 consecutive explosions had gone off, taking out our entire first defense. Lorenzo, Andre, and Tommaso forced me into the fucking underground exit. I think we all realized how bad it was when things accelerated so fuckin fast. By the time we made it through the private underground tunnel and up to the helipad, the whole fucking compound was up in flames. I seriously don’t understand how the fuck they got in or executed something like that. It doesn’t seem like an operation for low-life gang bangers from the Bay,” Matteo growls and tosses the rest of his drink back before slamming the empty glass so hard on my desk, the cup cracks. I roll my eyes.

Whatever, break the fucking glass. I hate the extravagant crystal tumblers anyway.

“No, maybe not, but Gus isn’t just a lowlife gang banger from the Bay, is he? He’s a manipulative, brilliant psycho. He could have absolutely masterminded that shit. And he’s pissed off enough to fuckin do it,” Eli adds as he drops down onto the couch with Isaac.

Matteo just grunts in response, still refusing to acknowledge my bi-sexual best friend. I growl at him, wanting nothing more than to shove my fist down his throat for his ignorance.

Resounding silence fills my office as we all think through everything. Matteo’s compound is still on fire so the men who hid in the underground bunker have yet to come out and do a body count. The fire department is on hand which means everyone connected will need to stay hidden temporarily.

“How do you know it was Los Diablos and Luna?” Isaac asks, breaking the contemplative silence.

“The security cameras. When we finally got on the chopper, we pulled up the feeds. The last sync before the system went down showed them pulling up in a big ass caravan. In broad fucking daylight. That piece of shit motherfucker got out of his Mercedes and kicked back, watching the show with a creepy-ass fuck smile on his face.” Matteo scoffs and fills a new tumble.

“He wanted us to know,” I add in because it’s obvious. Only someone who wants to leave a blatant calling card, a statement, would be so fucking bold in Grossi territory.

“So what do we do? What does this mean?” Eli asks, brows furrowed. He knows we’re in a tough fucking situation. Our allegiance is firmly with Gage and his boys, not with the Diablos or Gus.

Matteo smirks at my best friend, though it’s not a nice look. It’s evil and full of dark promise.

“It means we go to war.”
