I nod and then think better of it, knowing he likes it when I use my words.

“Yes,” I whisper.

Gage stares at me intently, eyes squinted as though he’s some sort of human lie detector. I know the moment he decides I’m being honest because his face breaks out into one of his massive rare smiles that puts his dimples on display. I melt.

Fuck, he’s so goddamn beautiful.

“I’m so proud of you, baby,” he murmurs making my nose scrunch up.

“Me?” I squeak, making him chuckle.

“Yeah, you. From the moment I met you, I knew that being open and vocal isn’t easy for you. We’re the same in that sense, all of us. The only emotion we feel and display openly is anger. I know this situation is strange and fucking scary, but all of us can only take it a day at a time. None of us know what’s going to happen in the future, but for now, just know we have you. You’re ours and we’re yours and we'll figure out the rest as we go, yeah?” I smile and nod, liking the way that sounds. Gage nods again before claiming my mouth.

Much like the kiss with his brother, it’s different. Gage’s kisses are always dominant and forceful. His presence in a room doesn’t lessen when he’s kissing me, it only grows stronger. He’s such a noticeable force in any situation. His energy wafts off of him whether he means for it to or not. Kissing him is the same. I am just here, enjoying it and hanging on for the ride, knowing he’s going to carry me the whole way through.

This kiss says all the things neither of us is ready to say. While it’s still dominant, because well, it’s Gage, it’s also sweet and emotional. He’s sayingthank you for picking us. He’s showing me he’s happy and nervous, scared even, but that he’s got me, got us. He’s the leader of this group for a reason. He carries the weight of everyone on his back and he makes no apologies for it. All too soon he’s pulling away, but he doesn’t go far. He leans into my ear, his heavy breathing making me shiver.

“Thank you for what you said to him, Cariño. You have no idea how much that meant to him, and to me,” he whispers. My eyes well up with emotion at the broken sincerity in his voice.

“I only said what I meant, and the same goes for you,” I whisper back as a few stray tears fall down my cheek.

My head wants to question how and why I am feeling so much so soon with them but I’m so fucking tired of questioning everything. I’m just going to let it all happen and bask in the feelings that come with the journey. Gage looks at me with a questioning look as he wipes my tears away. I just shrug because I’m an emotional woman and this is a big fucking deal.

He smiles.

I glare.

He laughs.

“Asshole,” I mutter.

“Not even three minutes into this relationship and I’m already an asshole? Fuck, that must be a record,” he chuckles.

Relationship? Holy shit balls. I have a boyfriend. No, two boyfriends. Though, boyfriend seems like a weird name for them. Men. Manfriend’s. Ewww...

“Stop overthinking shit again, baby girl. Come on, I want to show you something, then we can finish this talk. Hopefully, with more alcohol,” Maddox laughs as he stands up.

Gage kisses me once more then sets me back on my feet. Maddox pulls me to him, kissing my forehead then cheeks, then finally my lips. Before I’ve even opened my eyes, I’m being yanked toward the elevator, making me screech. The sound of deep laughter follows us.

Ella

“Holyshit!Thisisbeautiful!” I shout as I look over the glass railing that surrounds their rooftop paradise. “Why didn’t you show me this during my tour?”

“You were practically passed out by the time we got done with the third floor,” Maddox laughs as he wraps his arms around me from behind. I tense for a split second but sink into the contact.

“Well, it’s amazing up here. You can see the Golden Gate perfectly,” I sigh, enjoying the view as the cool air blows against my skin.

“Yeah, Nyx insisted on the view. Guess we know why now,” he murmurs before kissing the top of my head.

I almost choke on my spit but force myself to swallow it down at the last second. “Oh,” I whisper and nod, unsure what else to say. He wanted their house to look over the bridge? What the fuck? My mind raises with a million questions but none of them can be answered by the Luna brothers. There is only one man who can answer them and I highly doubt he's going to be forthcoming about any of this. Maddox and I settle into each other and look out at the peaceful bay in the afternoon light. It’s unbelievably comfortable here with him and I’m once again taken aback by howeasyit all is with them.

“Alright, let’s get this shit over with,” Gage grunts as he joins us.

Maddox gives me a gentle squeeze, being careful of my ribs, and kisses my neck before releasing me. We both move to sit on the rooftop sectional set. It’s beautiful black wicker with comfy charcoal gray cushions. Modern yet relaxing. I sit down, curling up against the warm fabric, and accept the mimosa Gage made me with a soft smile. I mentally prepare myself for the heaviness of this conversation.

Both of them settle in but remain silent as they sip on their scotches. Time to rip the band-aid off.

“So, you said you’ve been told to kill women and children but that you don’t. What does that mean?” I hedge. Maddox sighs and Gage jerks a nod before taking a healthy swig of his drink. I grimace because I know it must burn.
