“Should we call Hunter?” Maddox runs a hand through his hair, fucking up the faux-hawk he generally keeps perfectly styled as he thinks through his suggestion. He nods a couple of times as though he’s not really looking for an answer and has already decided on his own. “He probably has more insight into this than we do.”

“Or we could just wait for her to wake up and ask her ourselves,” Stone drawls, his face scrunched up in irritation.

Standing, Gage begins to pace back and forth in the small office, looking deep in thought. I lean back onto the wall, crossing my arms and taking in the scene in front of me. These men are seriously fucking pussy-whipped morons right now. I don’t know if I want to laugh or yell.

The longer the silence stretches out, the more Maddox fucks with his hair in thought and Gage paces with indecision, the more irritated I become.

Yelling it is.

“Is this seriously how shits going to go from here on out?” I snap. “She’s fucking fine. She had a panic attack and I get it, it freaked you all the fuck out to see her like that but Jesus fuck—”

“You were freaked out too!” Maddox grunts, but I proceed, ignoring that little bit of annoying truth like it doesn’t even exist.

“You’re all acting like she was shot or some shit. She’snappingfor tit’s sake. Fuck off and go about your day! We’ve got more important shit to handle than her little meltdown!”

“He’s right,” a soft voice says from behind me.

Fuck.

Her voice sounds so fucking fragile, yet angelic. It does something to me, making my stomach clench with the need to pick her up and take care of her. Suddenly, I understand the anxiety these assholes are experiencing as it flows through me.

It pisses me off.

Spinning on my heel, I face her. She’s holding the door handle in one hand, her face red and splotchy, eyes swollen. Her hair is all over the place, makeup staining her face and shirt. She’s a fucking wreck. The immediate desire to get her far away from this place, from us, ramps up again tenfold.

“What and the fuck happened back there?” I growl, my crossed arms dropping to my sides as my fists clench with the need to shake the answers out of her while simultaneously killing whatever dared scare her enough to warrant her reaction.

Right now, you’re the only one scarring her fuckface.

Shaking off my idiot inner voice, I stare at Isabella expectantly, not giving away the raging, conflicting emotions inside of me.

“Seriously, Nyxon? The fuck is the matter with you? Do you have multiple personalities all of the sudden or what?” Madd snaps.

He storms past me, making his way toward his precious littleprincesa, glaring at me on his way. I grit my teeth against the onslaught of annoyance I have at the situation. How easy it is for him to just walk right up to her, caress her face and say sweet nothings. To pick her up, carry her to the couch and drop down with her, letting her cuddle up in his lap.

Jealous-Labrinth

Why is it so fucking easy for them? We’ve all been through fucking hell. We’ve all been tortured physically and mentally by the same depraved bastard. We’ve all lost the only people in our lives to have cared about us other than each other.

Each of us has the same roots but somehow, these three fuckers are able to achieve what I never could; normalcy.

My jaw pops with how hard my teeth are grinding together. I want to rip his hands off of her as much as I want to fucking join them and the thought makes me even more pissed off. I need to get a hold of this bullshit coursing through me. My body prepares itself to flee, knowing that without taking my anger out on them, there’s nothing I can do in this room.

But then, her eyes pull away from his and she looks up at me. Her face is so fucking soft and gentle, full of sadness but still so goddamned beautiful. It’s disarming.

Sheis disarming.

“I’m so sorry for earlier,” she says quietly, her eyes clouding with tears. Gage goes to stop her words, probably to tell her she doesn’t need to apologize, and she doesn’t. I’m a fucking prick, I’m aware. I know I shouldn’t have said what I did. Whatever happened to her in that shop wasn’t her fault, nor were the events afterward. “Let me finish, Gage, please. Let me say this.”

She yanks her eyes from mine and looks at each of them, pausing long enough for them to agree. When they do, her gaze travels right back to me. I jerk a nod, resigned to my imminent fate and knowing there is no way I’m leaving this fucking room now. She smiles softly at me, despite the fact that I’ve been nothing but a raging asshole to her and before I know what I’m doing, I’m walking in her direction and joining them, sitting across from her in a club chair. My body leans forward, as though she is a magnet, pulling me in.

As I look around, I realize she is a fucking magnet, attracting each of us.

She’s on the couch, sitting on Maddox’s lap, with Stone to their left. Gage and I across from them, both leaning in. All four of us have our eyes locked on the littleprincesawho has yanked us into her orbit, whether we wanted to be there or not, as we wait for her to speak.

“I heard what you said,” she says, oceanic blue-green eyes boring into mine. The broken look on her face causes me to swallow deeply and look away. “I don’t know what exactly happened, only that when I walked into my work, all of my bad memories came flooding back like a tidal wave. It was just too much. The last time,” she hesitates, causing me to turn back in her direction. Her head drops down as she picks at the hem of the top she’s wearing. A nervous habit I’ve noticed. “One of the last times I was at work, Drew attacked me in the parking lot. Then, I got sick in the bathroom. The time after that was when I went out with you guys and we all know how that night ended. And—” She stops again, her words dying in her mouth, and begins to shake her head back and forth.

Looking up, she tucks her lips into her mouth as though that action alone will keep her words in. Tears streak down her face and I watch as they forge a path through her destroyed makeup. Her breathing picks up and she squeezes her eyes closed, clearly at war with whatever she needs to say.
