I gawk at him. He continues before I have the chance to scream and run, or maybe even be impressed by his sleuthing skills.

“Before you say it, I know it was a violation of privacy, but when you stopped coming to the gym, I got worried. At first, I just looked at your information with the idea that I’d grab your number and maybe call you, but I didn’t think you’d want to talk to me, and the guys didn’t think it was a good idea. I’d seen the name of your coffee shop and decided to just drive by, make sure you were okay.” He shrugs, staring at me with a helpless expression on his sweet face.

I don’t know why I do what I do next, but I laugh. Then I laugh some more. I laugh so hard; that I end up doubled over with tears streaming down my face. Eli says nothing and though I can’t see his face, I can imagine he’s considering all the ways he’d like to punish me for my rude behavior, but honestly, he can go fuck himself.

When I’m finally able to pull myself together, I stand, wiping my tear-stained cheeks as I go.

“I’m sorry,” I say, slightly breathless as I gasp for air. “I think I might be going a little crazy here.”

Eli gapes at me, his face a mix of emotions, ranging from bafflement to concern. His cheek twitches, then his pierced lip, before he eventually smiles at me. Not his usual cocky smirk, or the sated, sleepy half smiles I received in abundance that night. No. This is a full, ear-to-ear, dimpl-y smile. The sight of it does things to me.

“I broke your brain, didn’t I?” he asks, that smile still on display. I don’t answer, I can’t. Now that the laughter has died down and I’m able to think again, everything he just told me really starts to sink in.

“You looked me up, found me, made sure I was still alive but never actually spoke to me. Until today,” I clarify. He nods. “So, what changed?” I don’t tell him that I know they showed up at the club last night, not yet.

Eli turns around, giving me his back, and looks up into the night sky. You can barely see the stars due to all of the light pollution so I’m not sure if he’s actually looking at anything or just piecing together his thoughts. I take a few steps away and lean back onto my car, giving him the space I sense he needs to process. I may not know Eli well, but from what I’ve seen over our limited interaction, he’s not huge on emotions. Maybe even less so than Isaac and Renz.

We stand in silence for so long that I start to think he’s not going to answer me. When he finally does, his voice is barely audible.

“Because I missed you,” he rasps.

Because I missed you.Four words. That’s it. He says nothing more, not right away. The roughness of his voice makes it sound as though the words were ripped from a place inside of him that he doesn’t touch often, if ever.

Because I missed you.

My throat tightens. Eli doesn’t turn around, but he finally switches from staring at the sky, to looking downwards. It takes me a second to realize he’s staring at his hands, as though they hold all of the answers.

“You missed me,” I say slowly, the words drawn out, long and low. Not a question. A statement. I’m not even sure who I’m saying it to, but maybe saying it out loud might help the words to sink in, to make sense.

Keep your walls up, Violet.

He finally turns around, and even with the space between us, his eyes find mine immediately, almost as though second nature. “Violet, that night meant something to me. You were, youare, different than anyone else I have ever met. Yeah, everything was hot as hell with you, with Zac and Renz, but fuck, Little Flower, it wasn’t just the sex, it wasyou.”

He closes the distance between us in a few long strides. My head cants back as I look up at him. He’s so much taller than I am. He may not be as muscular as Renz, but I still find myself feeling tiny in his presence.

His hands find my hips.

He squeezes.

I bite my lip.

He groans.

THE HEART WANTS WHAT IT WANTS-SELENA G.

I’m lost in his spell, in his beautiful blue eyes, in the feeling of his hot skin on mine. My hips tilt forward, pressing into him. He pushes back, grinding into me. He’s hard. I’m wet.

My neck tilts back even further, in invitation. He leans down, as entranced as I am. My body trembles beneath his hold, in anticipation, excitement, and longing. My eyes close without my permission. He groans again, the sound borderline animalistic. His breath skitters across my mouth and my tongue darts out as if to chase the taste of him.

“It was you,” he whispers, and finally, finallycloses the distance. His mouth crashes down onto mine, fusing our lips together, and I don’t hesitate to respond. Eli’s tongue lashes out as he demands entrance. We’re only seconds in and I can already feel the intensity and urgency in his movements. This kiss isn’t soft and sweet. It’s powerful and damn near violent.

Eli presses me into my car with his entire body, aligning us until I’m unsure where I end, and he begins. Our tongues duel for dominance. Our teeth clash again and again. We’re a mix of biting, sucking, and licking.

Eli grunts. I moan. The sounds coming from the two of us are fueled by lust and passion. It’s basically pornographic, and I don’t give a fuck. This is the single best kiss of my entire life.

It's wild. It’s feral. It’s everything.

He shifts his hips, thrusting his hard cock into my body. I grind back into him, but he’s too tall and I can’t get the friction I want, need. “More,” I pant in between kisses. “Please, more.”
