“Yes, meet me outside and bring me something to eat ’cause I’m starving,” I said and groaned.

“Okay,” she said and ended the call.

My mind drifted to last night. It was like one moment, everything had been perfect, and the next minute had been total chaos. I snapped out of my thoughts when someone tapped on my window. I unlocked the door for Vina, who was wrapped in a fluffy hoodie and short shorts. She entered inside the car and shut the door.

“Here you go. I will just have to tell my mom the remaining tacos and burritos mysteriously disappeared,” she said as she gave me the plastic pan.

“Thank you,” I said with a smile.

“Aren’t you going to give me a hug first?” Vina frowned as I opened the pan.

“Sorry. I’m just so hungry,” I said and leaned closer to hug her.

“Is everything okay?” she asked me after I pulled away.

“Yes,” I replied, bringing out the burrito.

“You just drove to my house at eleven p.m., asking for food. How is that okay?” she asked.

I didn’t say anything but ate the food.

“Is it Tristan? What did thathijo de putado?” She looked furious.

“I’m fine. I just wanted to see you,” I said with a smile.

“Mentirosa, come here,” she said and pulled me in a hug. “Whatever it is, I’m always here to listen and kick ass,” she whispered, and I smiled.

“Something happened last night at the engagement party,” I began.

“Ohh, tea,” she squealed, leaning back on the seat.

I ate as I told her everything that had happened last night and this morning with Grey.

“I don’t blame you for freaking out. That was creepy as hell. I would have reached for the knife and dice him,” she said after I told her about Grey. “But can’t you be patient with Tristan? I mean, it might be a hard topic for him, and you’re digging for info, which makes him feel like you don’t trust him.”

“I don’t trust him,” I said.

“Yeah, I get it, but if you care, try to be patient with him or just leave if it’s too much for you.”

“What if he is really married to this Nadia? I hardly know anything about him. I’m not even sure he feels a thing for me. He made it clear it was all lust to him.”

“I’m having migraines from all the drama with Tristan. I don’t know what to say anymore.”

“Let’s talk about something else.” I laughed.

We talked about school and celebrities as I ate the burrito and tacos. I forgot about my problems, just hanging out with her. We lost track of time as we spoke and laughed in the car. I almost broke into tears as we said good-bye to each other.

It was almost two a.m. as I pulled into the driveway in front of Tristan’s house. I sighed before getting out of the car. I walked into the house, feeling distressed. Morris had already set the table with different food and was waiting for me.

“Welcome, Miss Simpson,” he greeted.

“Hi, Morris,” I said and headed for the stairs.

“Mr. Sanchester told me you haven’t eaten since morning. I made you enough food to eat,” he said, halting my movement.

I felt awful that he had gone through all that for nothing.

“I have eaten. I’m sorry you had to go through the stress.” I gave him an apologetic smile and walked to my room.
