“Wanna go for a walk? The doctor said you should walk around for a bit.”

“I’m tired.”

“Come on, Chloe.”

“I don’t feel like taking a walk right now,” I snapped.

“Okay. Everything all right? You can talk to me,” he whispered, taking my hand.

I didn’t answer. I stayed quiet, and soon, the tears were falling. I wasn’t sure of the reason I was crying, but the tears kept coming. Tristan sat beside me and put his arms around me. No words, just his embrace was enough.

We wentfor a walk the next day. My legs wobbled as I felt a noose around my stomach, but soon, I got used to the feeling.

I stared at the other patients in the building as we walked outside. Tristan held my hand, drawing circles on the back of my palm. It was warm outside today. The warm breeze felt nice on my face. I smiled at the sun and held on to Tristan’s arm.

“I bought us a penthouse. We can stay there until all this is over and the person is behind bars.”

“Does anyone know about it?” I asked.

“My family and Adrian.”

“Then, I guess Karen already knows.”

“Chloe, please,” he groaned, and I rolled my eyes.

“You shouldn’t have told anyone. You can’t trust anyone right now, not even Adrian or your family.” My voice almost escaped me as I uttered the final word.

“We both need a place to hide, just you and me,” he said, interlocking our fingers.

“Then, book a suite in a fancy hotel. No one has to know, just the two of us.”

“Just the two of us?” He beamed, the corners of his eyes crinkling.

“Yeah, no one else should know we’re staying there,” I said, looking him in the eye.

“Okay,” he agreed.

I sighed in relief while he smirked.

We succeededin booking a nice suite in a hotel downtown. I’d gotten discharged yesterday, and we had everything planned. Tristan gave Morris a month off, and we left immediately after Morris was gone.

The suite was big. It had a spacious living room and a large bedroom that had the best view of the city with a small balcony. No one knew we were here. We’d told everyone we were going on vacation.

The doctor had given me some pills and informed me I’d be having migraines in the future due to the damage Karen had caused.

“This feels so good,” I moaned, rubbing my back on the black leather couch.

“You know what else feels so good?” Tristan asked huskily. He drew closer to my body, running his hand up my thigh under my dress. “You.” He approached my lips and placed kisses down my jaw to my neck while my chest shook in laughter.

He reached for the silk belt holding the dress together and loosened it. I closed my eyes and arched my back as his hands explored my body. I ran my fingers through his hair, stifling a moan as he kissed my thighs and threw my legs over his shoulders.

“We haven’t unpacked. You know that, right?” I rasped as his lips drew closer to my core.

“We can do it tomorrow, or I can stop,” he said, pulling away.

“No!” I protested.

He laughed and met my lips in a slow kiss.
