“Tristan, wait.”

He didn’t look back.

“Oh God,” I groaned.

I lookedaround at my new hospital room. I couldn’t believe Tristan had attacked Dominiano and moved me to another hospital. I glared at him. He smiled at me and switched on the TV.

“You shouldn’t have done that.”

He ignored me.

“He is married and will soon become a father. He said he is not the same person.”

“I don’t care,” he sighed. “He’s lucky I didn’t draw aCon his face with a scalpel,” he added before stepping out of the room.

I sighed and watchedThe Wendy Williams Showon the TV. The door opened. Adrian and Karen walked in, holding hands.

“Hey, how are you doing?” Adrian asked with a small smile.

“Still breathing,” I said to Karen instead.

“Good to know,” she said.

“How do you think Adrian will feel after the truth comes out?” I questioned calmly. I saw her jaw clench.

“I know she is unwell, but I can’t keep coming here if she only sees me as the person responsible for what happened to her,” she said, faking a cry.

Adrian sent a pissed look my way as his expression hardened.

“It’s okay. You can go home. I will meet you later,” he whispered to her.

“Okay.” She kissed his lips and turned to look at me. “Take care, Chloe.” The look on her face said the opposite.

Adrian moved closer to the bed after she left. “I know it’s not your fault, but you are hurting Karen for no reason.”

“No reason? She doesn’t care about you. She doesn’t even love you, Adrian. She has a boyfriend. She is only using you to—”

“That’s enough!” he snapped. “You’ve taken this too far. I know you’re unwell, but this is getting on my nerves. Stop it already. You don’t get to be jealous, Chloe.”

“What?” I cut in immediately and laughed. “Jealous? I. Am. Over. You. Adrian. Parker,” I said each word in rage.

“Then, leave her alone,” he said and left the room.

Karen was a great actress. She had him wrapped around her fingers. She was good—poor Adrian. I exhaled and tried to keep my mind calm. So much was going on in my head.

Tristan returned, not looking upset anymore.

“I brought you your favorite,” he said, showing me the bag of Cheetos.

I rolled my eyes and ignored him.

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t comfortable with you staying there after everything he did to you.”

“Whatever,” I murmured and closed my eyes.

“Okay, that was not the answer I was expecting. Are you okay?”

“Yes.”
