Shit. Shit. Shit.

The door slams shut, and Sadie unwraps herself from me with a giggle.

"Stay the fuck away from me, Sadie. I won't ask you again. Next time I have to repeat myself, you'll be sorry." I grab my phone from the nightstand and waste no time running after Camille, my heart beating in my chest with every single step.

I know what it looked like, and I know what she's thinking, and holy shit, this is bad.

"Camille, wait!" I yell, but I'm too late. I catch her just in time to see her as she climbs into the passenger seat of Spencer’s car, and they drive off down the street.

I unlock my phone and select her contact, the line only ringing twice before going to voicemail.

Fuck.

I call again, each call going straight to voicemail.

I'm fucked. I'm so fucked!

This may have been the final nail in the coffin. Cam hates Sadie, and after finding the unsolicited nude photos on my phone, she was already iffy about trusting me. This will be the straw that broke the camel's back, all thanks to Sadie fucking Marshall.

* * *

It's beena week since Camille caught Sadie and me together. It was completely innocent, but that's not how it looked. I wasn't doing anything with Sadie, despite what she has been telling everyone. I blocked her number from my phone, which I should’ve done in the first place. Dallas told me that Sadie’s been telling all her girlfriends that we hooked up, and her girlfriends told their boyfriends, and now I’m sure everyone from school knows.

According to him, Spencer told Camille, so now Camille believes that I hooked up with Sadie too, which is a damn lie.

I’ve never done anything sexual with Sadie, nor have I wanted to, and the only person I’ve ever kissed is my best friend. My best friend that isn’t speaking to me, and I can’t blame her. If the roles were reversed, I’d be pissed too.

I’d told Dallas that it wasn’t true, and he agreed to talk to Spencer and Camille. I’ve tried to tell Spencer, but she won’t speak to me, which I figured. She’s taking Camille’s side, and I can’t blame her. How can Camille not believe it when she saw me on top of Sadie with her body around me? It looked pretty damning.

I’ve been calling and texting Cam for hours every day, but after the third day, she blocked my number.

She won’t even open her bedroom door for me, and that’s only when I’ve been allowed inside her house.

Their parents work during the day, leaving Cam and Spencer home alone. Spencer won’t let me in, but once, I was able to catch their mom, who let me inside before she left for work.

Cam didn’t answer, but I knew she was inside because once I knocked and asked to talk, she turned the music up.

She’s being fucking stubborn and refusing to allow me the chance to explain my side. She heard a rumor and believed it.

She should know me better than that.

A week without her feels like a lifetime.

Months ago, our parents planned a summer vacation together, and we're supposed to leave in nine days. Camille has been so excited about the trip and has been helping our parents plan the itinerary. I was looking forward to it, and now I'm dreading it. I'm excited to see her again, but it won't be enjoyable if she won't even talk to me. She can't even open the door long enough to speak to me, so I know she won't speak to me during our trip.

We're going to be in the same house together for two whole weeks. Our parents rented an ocean-front house in Cancun together. This was supposed to be a summer to remember.

The best summer ever to celebrate Camille's upcoming first year of high school, and my upcoming senior year.

Thanks to Sadie, it will be a summer to remember, but not in a good way.

Camille

"You need to pencil me in for lunch once a week," Karina says before shoving another forkful of lettuce into her mouth. She had hassled me all week until I agreed to go to lunch on Thursday.
