Once everything was straightened out, I would have people go through all the paperwork every week in every department of my business. Then there would be random checks, no more of this bullshit.

Buzzing Stefano, I asked him, “Can you come give me a hand, please?”

Moments later, he opened the door.

“Here’s that hand you needed, where do you want it?” Stefano held his hand out in front of me.

“Point taken. I’ll lighten up.” I let out a chuckle. Then my eyes scanned over the mess of the desk and the light hearted moment slammed down hard.

“Unless we crack this code, there’s really no way to tell or figure out when and where the girls are coming from or when the next shipment will be.” I ran a frustrated hand through my hair.

“That’s true.” He picked up a stack of papers and started looking through them. We were silent for about ten minutes before he spoke up. “So what do you think of Bria?”

I eyed him over my paperwork. While I rolled my eyes at his desire for a heart to heart at this moment, I knew Stefano was only checking in.

“Well, I definitely like her fire and passion.” All of our sexy times flashed through my mind, but like hell I’d ever mention that to anybody. I’d have to slit throats, and remove eyeballs. “She just keeps proving herself time and time again. I think she will probably be a good help to the family business, and especially during the merger. I’m just worried about her staying in a leadership position though.”

There I said it. I hated having anything that showed me as confused or insecure.

“How so? If you like her, then you’ll have to trust her at some point, won’t you?” Stefano glanced up with an appraising look. “You don’t think she can handle the work?”

“While I’m hoping that Bria can help with figuring out more information from Elana, that’s my biggest worry, Stefano. What will happen once we have children and then she can’t work anymore? Do I let her hope that things are going her way and then dash them? That feels a little heavy handed even for me. I prefer it when she’s happy. I hate it when she’s upset.” Unless I was the one making her blood boil.

“Will that work? Would she take a back seat when there are children involved? What does your father think of her working for the outfit?”

Man, he was full of questions today.

“Well, I’m the man that will need to be consulted. My father is going to retire soon. So that’s something that can be addressed over time. I can still be feared, but so can my wife. It already sounds like she is feared in her own family business. We can be the ruling don couple and people should fear us. We’ll have the strength of both families behind us. With the children thing, she can take some time off to do that.”

How much time would she take though? If anything I wouldn’t want our children to be without their mother.

“Yeah, I don’t see that happening.” He laughed. “If in the short time she’s been here is any indication. She’s not the adorable, stay-at-home-and-take-care -of-the-children type.”

“Normally, a girl would be dying to make a blood tie between us, but Bria doesn’t seem to care that much about the protection I’m providing. Speaking of protection, we haven’t used any for our fun sexy times. We may need to have a talk about children soon.” It also didn’t help that I started pumping into her in no time. I didn’t care then if she wanted children or not, I expected her to want them and seal the families. I was learning differently now.

“Well, you do seem to be moving fast.” He tilted his head as if he was asking more of a question.

“That’s how marriage agreements work.” I shrugged then grinned. “It also helps that she’s hot as fuck.” I glared at him letting him know that nobody was to talk about her, only me when it came to her sexiness. Stefano nodded, understanding the score.

“She’s vengeful, like the devil himself. It’s gonna take a lot to keep her in check. But I think I’m gonna spend the rest of my life trying. She could be the real fucking deal. The perfect match for a don.”

CHAPTER15

Bria

I foundGina standing outside the door as I went up to Elana’s room.

“How’s it going?”

“Pretty good. Luciano ordered those clothes, so we brought them in for her and she was thankful to get something in her size that she could wear. Other than that, she’s been quiet. But I think she’s doing well. For her circumstances anyway.”

“Perfect. I’ll go in and check on her.”

“Hey, guys,” I greeted as I went inside and sat down, taking a seat on the bed, trying to make sure I gave her enough space. I would never want to encroach in her personal space. “Everything going okay?”

“Good, although I’m starting to go a little stir crazy here in this room.” Elana’s shy smile easily appeared and she seemed a little more bubbly today. Some of her fears had calmed for now, and she was coming out of her shell a little bit.

“How did your wedding planning go?” she asked, looking interested.
