As I came out, Luciano’s mother cried when she saw me. “You look beautiful, sweetheart. Luciano is going to lose his head when he sees you.”

“That’s it. It’s perfect.” Carina smiled.

I joked to lighten the mood because the emotions were hitting me. “Well, I won’t be able to hide a thigh holster with this dress.”

I really wanted my gun back. I’d need to speak with him when I got back. A girl should never be without her gun. After all, it’s my best friend.

CHAPTER16

Luciano

I was havinga hard time concentrating while Bria went off to the dress shop with my mother, but I knew that my mother could handle it. And Bria was an underboss, but still I had only known her for a few days, and I already stressed if something happened to her.

It wasn’t as if I hadn’t sent bodyguards to protect them, along with having one of their own accompany them as well.

The distribution warehouse was a complete mess though and took all of my attention. The sooner I focused on this, the sooner I could get back to Bria and that amazing mouth of hers.

We went in and pulled all the files, and I had my guys start organizing them to see if we could find any patterns. Or if there were certain areas or shipments that tended to have extra supplies or codes with it. We wanted to see what was missing from the shipping manifest of the previous suppliers.

It was a long day, going through old boxes and computerizing most of the old invoices. People wouldn’t believe that I would get sweaty with actual labor and administration work, but to be a great boss, one had to know the ins and outs of every operation.

It sucked though that my father’s generation had believed that there shouldn’t be a paper trail, and that everything should be written down so that it could be easily burned or shredded. I believed in the computer age and getting everything onto a digital monitor.

Yes, things could be intercepted and there could be issues with it at some point, but I really felt that it made work ten times easier for everyone, and they were less likely to be things that fell through the cracks. We probably would’ve been able to catch on to the trafficking a lot sooner.

I had just finished showering when Bria walked in, obviously in a good mood. She came into the bathroom while I finished washing off the soap. I watched her move about, telling me about her day. I loved how much she respected and got along with my mother. After hearing what I had about her own, I wanted her to have that close connection with mine. It would be helpful when she was pregnant, in labor, and then taking care of a newborn. I would be there along the way, but I didn’t have a clue what to do.

It was nice having someone other than Stefano to talk to about things. A female with brains and that was beautiful to look at certainly made things better.

It was going to be an amazing journey no matter how things turned out between us. In this life nothing was certain, but I would take advantage of this time with her. Bria was the person that fit me and I could listen to her chat about her day again and again.

“If you don’t mind, I’d really like to move forward with getting Carina and Elana an apartment. Maybe we can provide a therapist for Elana, or find one that would be willing to talk to her. I really think both of them can use one, actually. My father did a number on Carina and she’s going to need to talk to somebody at some point.”

I came out and grabbed a towel, but didn’t wrap it around me. I dried my hair as the rest of the water slid down my body. I could feel Bria’s eyes glancing over to look at me and I held in my smirk. I knew my body was making her excited. Hers did the same to me.

“You’re right. They probably do need a therapist. That’s a good idea. After being in that kind of situation, it never hurts to talk to someone. We have a couple on the payroll. I’ll look into it.”

She cleared her throat, and worked hard to keep her eyes on mine. “Can we check over a few apartments after meeting with one of my father’s outfits tomorrow?”

“Sure. I own a building in town about ten minutes away and there’s an extra, empty apartment in the building, so we can check that out and see what you think.”

“Just like that?” Bria was unsure that I’d have something like that taken care of. “Is it in a good area?”

“Let me say I love the penthouse and will have guards in place, so yes to both. Plus, I had my security team plug it into the system so it will also alert us if anything happens.”

She physically relaxed before me. “That sounds perfect.” Then she eyed me up and down and licked her lips. “Let’s go to bed, we do have an early morning.”

The next day we arrived at Carlos Maggiore’s warehouse. He was one of the men who handled local distribution and supplies for the Montrelli family. The day to day delivery of products and goods was run through his warehouse.

Bria walked me through how their operation worked.

“We have most of our supplies and operations run through this building. Our local businesses are set up with contracts from the city to make sure that new businesses get the supplies that they need at a low cost.” Carlos waved a hand at the many different functions of the warehouse.

“Carlos, do you think you could double the production?”

“Yes, sir.” His head bobbed and he ran a hand down his chin.
