“Bria, do you believe that’s doable?”

“Yes, I think if Carlos agrees we could do that, but we’ll need to hire more staff though.” Bria smiled. “I trust him to know what is needed on this front. We need to keep our obligations with the city first. No negotiation on that.”

“Double it.” I ordered with ease. “One of my big distributors is going to need double the products put out in the next few weeks and I think that this would be a good opportunity to merge some of our business together.”

“I can handle working on that,” Carlos assured us.

“Wonderful,” Bria said. “I’ll go through some numbers and send over some applications from our last go through. If they check out, you can hire them immediately and get started.”

Bria was happy to be getting some tasks to do. This again proves that she was made to be an active member of the family, not just the wife. I know that, but part of me still needed to witness it for myself. A mafia princess was never known to want to get their hands dirty. Bria was all in.

“Also, I’ll need you to give me a few numbers on possible ways that you can triple instead of just doubling it, also to possibly triple the supply too,” I added. “If you’re as good as Bria says, then we’ll have to make sure of your skills.”

Carlos nodded, and he took my position as the new boss seriously. I respected that. I hoped it would remain that way and he’d be loyal. There would be a very good future for him if he did.

“Very good, sir. I’ll send you both the information from our warehouse because you’re going to need to have us move to a new location, to a much larger one really.”

I appreciated his honesty, and not saying that he could make it work in his current warehouse. I didn’t have time for ‘yes men.’

“Yes, you’ll need to get ready to close this one. I want to turn it into a decoy for some legal products. You can also hire actual staff for this building as well.” I glanced around the room and looked Carlos straight in the eye. “I know that it seems high handed to just take away Bria’s authority, but at the same time we both needed to have equal partnerships in all the holdings. Using this warehouse for legitimate operations would make things much easier going forward.”

Bria smiled and I smiled back.

After the meeting with Carlos ended, we drove over to the apartment building.

I was ready to drag her all over the apartment building and show off what an amazing place it was when sirens and lights filled the air. Our driver pulled over, but I was becoming annoyed very quickly. Who had the guts to pull us over?

The police officer came up to the door and the driver rolled down the window to give his license.

A shot rang out and the cop suddenly dropped to the ground. Blood splattered over our driver from a bullet to the cop’s head.

All of us ducked as I moved my body over Bria’s. Bullets hit our tires, shaking the entire vehicle.

“Fuck! Who is shooting at us? Does anyone have a visual?” I yelled.

“No, the shot that took out the cop came from behind us,” Bria yelled back as she scanned the area.

“Are you sure?” I didn’t want to question her, but all of our safety depended on it.

“Yes, directly behind us, one shot from the ground level.” She nodded in the direction, staying below the windows. The glass was bulletproof, but that could still only withstand so much pressure.

“Follow me, we’re going to open the back doors and use that as coverage to find the shooter and take them out,” I said.

We both popped out the back door and scrambled out as Stefano and the others came out with us.

Stefano laid down fire, but another one of my men got shot and instantly killed from somewhere near the rear.

Bria ducked into the front seat and popped open the glovebox knowing that there was an extra gun hidden in there.

“Damn it, woman.” I began cursing again. “What the hell are you doing?”

I was scared that she was going to get hurt, but instead she used the door as a shield, taking cover as the assailants began to approach again.

Stefano couldn’t get the shot off from his position, but Bria managed to shoot through the open window and hit one of them dead center in between the eyes. She dove back down to avoid getting shot.

Anger flooded my system, and I stood up and walked around to face the men as they hurried to hide behind a wall.

Bria had no regard for her safety as she walked out into the open, trying to get a shot at one of them.
