"Blake," Linda said with a smile. "It's good to see you."

Everly stepped out of the office behind her boss. The navy dress she wore was a series of wraps around her waist and over her shoulders, and her blonde hair fell behind her in loose curls. Her greeting smile had him clutching the plates when he stumbled.

"It's good to see you too." He held up the food. "Just brought some lunch for my favorite woman."

Linda grinned and gave Everly a look. "You two have fun." She waved over her shoulder as she headed out.

Everly didn't move as she watched Linda leave. Seconds ticked by in silence, and Blake took the opportunity to study his beautiful girlfriend.

Yeah, calling Everly his girlfriend would never get old.

As soon as the door closed, Everly grabbed his arm and dragged him into her office, closing the door behind them.

"Hey, handsome. I loved the note you left in my office this morning." She snaked her hands around his neck and pulled him down to seal her lips against his.

Every muscle in his body relaxed as Everly filled his senses. When the plates started slipping from his hands, he broke the kiss and grabbed for them.

"Sorry, I forgot all about the food. Wow. What a way to say hello," Blake said, smirking at the flirty glint in Everly's eyes.

"Who needs food?" Everly said as she pressed another kiss to his cheek.

He was dirty and sweaty, but Everly didn’t seem to care. He’d washed his hands before putting together her plate, but that was the only part of him without a trace of dirt.

"If you keep seducing me, I'll never be able to leave."

"Why would you leave?" Everly's brows lifted, waiting for his response.

"I just came to drop this off. You said you had a meeting right around lunchtime."

"But you can't stay even a minute?" Her pout was exaggerated, and she blinked up at him.

Blake set the plates on top of a filing cabinet and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I can spare a minute, but I have to clear a bunch of trees from a trail. The storm last night left a mess."

Everly let her arms fall from around his neck, understanding his obligations. "Okay. Thanks for the lunch."

"I picked strawberry cake. The alternative was coconut."

Everly stepped close and threaded her fingers through his. "You're the best."

"I wish I could stay," Blake whispered. Being this close to Everly literally took his breath away. It was official. He was a stereotypical lovestruck teenager.

Everly hummed as if satisfied. "Me too, but I'll take what I can get."

"Speaking of what I can get, what about a date night?" Blake asked.

"Yes," Everly drawled. "I'd love that."

"Where to?"

Everly looked up and tapped a fingertip on her chin. "How about we go back to Barn Sour? I could go for another night of dancing."

Blake smiled. Hearing about the man who'd been following her years ago hadn't affected her fear of being seen. In fact, she seemed bolder and stronger lately.

"Dancing it is, but let's skip the pawn shop."

She patted his chest. "Fine by me. There's nothing there I want."

That was the truth for Blake too. Everything he wanted was right here in his arms.
