Everly’s eyes widened. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, Megan is coming to town next week. She wants to take me to Cody to find a maid of honor dress. We're planning to get a hotel room and make it a girls’ night."

“Sounds like fun."

Everly lifted up onto her toes and used one hand to uncover a small piece of the plate he brought for her. "Are those tacos?"

"Yes, and there is guacamole. You're welcome."

Her eyes narrowed at him. "Any chance you sent mashed potatoes?"

Blake studied her. "Are you serious?"

She shrugged. "I might have tried it the last time we had tacos, and you were right. It's good."

Blake wrapped his arms around her and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "And everyone told me the perfect woman didn't exist."

Everly laughed and shoved him away. "I'm not saying you're always right, but I may listen to you a little more often. That's all."

Blake sighed. "I have to get back to work, but I'll call you later about that date."

"I can't wait." Everly lifted her chin and closed her eyes.

Blake pulled her close, savoring the seconds he had with Everly. He paused merely an inch from her lips and whispered, "I love you," before pressing his mouth to hers.

Everly held onto his shoulders as he kissed her hard, desperate for another minute with her.

Busy days at the ranch meant missing Everly, and a quick visit at lunch wasn't enough.

No amount of time was ever enough with Everly.

Blake stepped back and reached for the door. "I have to go."

"I love you," Everly said as she picked up her lunch.

Blake darted out of the office before he got sucked into another kiss with Everly. She was the worst for his productivity.

Outside, Mr. Chambers sat waiting in the UTV. Had Blake’s work suffered enough that it warranted a visit from the big boss?

"Mr. Chambers, how's it going?"

The older man linked his hands in his lap and rested back against the seat. "Fine and dandy. And yourself?"

"Never better. I was just about to go clear the Little River Trail. Care to join me?"

"It's been a while since I've been out there. You drive, and I'll supervise."

Blake started the UTV and headed north. The brisk wind that blew the storm in and out last night numbed his nose and stung his eyes. He snuck a glance at Mr. Chambers. He was wearing a coat, but it wasn't a heavy duty covering.

Blake shook his head. Mr. Chambers was old, not decrepit. The man knew if he needed extra layers, but Ava and Everly would have Blake's neck in a chokehold if he somehow contributed to Mr. Chambers's health failing.

"So, you and Everly, huh?" Mr. Chambers grunted.

"Yes, sir."

"Long time coming, don't you think?"

Blake cut a glance to Mr. Chambers. "Yes, sir."

"She's a good one," Mr. Chambers said, leaving the end of his sentence hanging as if Blake should know where this was going.
