There would even be a time when Tate would come back, and I felt invincible knowing she was with me. I would kill him. Maybe we could kill him together.

Time she could have to think, to do whatever. But I knew now, I couldn’t live without her.

Without her, I’d go to a point of no return, and there would be nothing left to lose, including my soul.

Her legs trembled as she neared her peak, and I smiled against her neck as I reached between us, pinching and rubbing her clit and bringing her over the edge. I didn’t stop when she came, pressing her past the wall of pleasure until she was squirming under my touch.

She’d come tonight over and over again until she was limp in my arms.

Then I would push her to that point one more time.

If she wasn’t screaming my name, I wasn’t doing it right.

Nipping at her shoulder and neck, I grabbed her hips again, tilting her up so I could drive in deeper.

“Come for me, Emrick,” she panted.

I did, growling and grunting like the animal that lived within, emptying my seed into her, but I was far from done with her. She needed to be claimed several times for every day she was away from me.

She was in for a long night.

CARA

Emrick doesn’t deal well with disobedience.

The truth still got to me sometimes, and I’d have to stop and take a moment to think about it. Emrick was anangel,or at least he used to be. Now he was one of the fallen. I’ll admit that even after I came back to him, I still needed some time to go over it. Another few visits to Zaqiel and Evie, another few chats, and Zaqiel had even let me touch his wings and examine where they protruded from his back. They matched the scars on Emrick’s back exactly, and my heart broke for him.

My love, he had only been trying to do what was right, what he thought was justice, and he had lost everything. I now understood the reason he took the path he did. He was so tainted now there was no going back to who he used to be.

But that didn’t bother me because while we were probably bad influences on each other, neither of us cared.

Our love was dark and messed up, but it was still love.

Earlier today, I came back from one of my visits with Evie, needing to hear the same information again and again. She had told me her story, and I had confessed mine. We understood each other on a deeper level, even if we had dealt with our circumstances differently. I don’t think we could ever be friends as such because she held a deep hatred for the business I was now a part of, but we understood each other, and that was something.

I hadn’t told Emrick where I was going, and only when I came back had I confessed.

He didn’t like I lied, or at least that I hadn’t told him the full truth.

So, he needed to punish me.

In fact, I was being punished even as I walked the floor with a tray of drinks.

I still liked being part of the club, the thumping mess of a club that whirled around the business it hid and helped grow. While I didn’t work full shifts and had the luxury of coming and going as I pleased, it also helped me keep an eye on the place, and the other bar and waitstaff were fountains of information. They heard and saw everything, and through me, that could be funneled to Emrick. We were on top of everything all the time, and our empire had strengthened in the past month.

The twinge of discomfort when I bent to place a tray on a table between a group of businessmen reminded me of my punishment—a sizable butt plug, which I was required to wear as I serviced the floor tonight. I knew Emrick would be watching from the balcony, his chin resting on the tips of his fingers and his eyes following me behind those dark sunglasses. He’d be smirking and just waiting for a hint I was going to break first.

But I wouldn’t.

Or so I thought.

My legs buckled as I made my way back to the bar for the next order. Passersby grabbed my arms and helped me back onto my feet as I gripped onto a supporting beam.

“Are you okay?”

“Do I need to call someone?”

“Do you need some water?”
