“I liked the corset better.”

“Bet you won’t fight me so hard the next time I ask you to wear it, will you?”

“You seem awfully sure there will be a next time, Mr. Barrick.”

Stopping in front of the lockers, they both waited for one to pop open to place their phones and her purse inside. When they closed the door again, he wrapped an arm around her back, forcing her to bend forward as he peppered her barely covered ass with swats hard enough to make her squeal.

When he released her, she straightened, pushing at her hair as she glared at him. “What was that for?”

She asked the question like she hadn’t been deliberately baiting him, and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from grinning. “How are you supposed to address me when we’re playing, kitten?”

Her bottom lip pushed out into a pout, but her eyes were dancing with mischief. “Sorry, sir.”

“God it’s good to hear that word from your lips again. Come on, baby. Let’s go find a spot to sit.”

Picking up his bag, he placed a hand on her back as they wound their way through the club. They stopped in front of the giant stage, where a long-legged brunette wrapped in an intricate pattern of ropes and knots was currently being suspended from the ceiling. Despite the crowd, they were lucky enough to find an empty spot. Settling himself on the couch, he pointed to the ground in front of him.

Kit didn’t even hesitate before slowly lowering to her knees in front of him. No doubt she figured less people would notice her if she was on her knees. He was willing to let her keep that sense of security for now. Once he had her up on the stage, there wouldn’t be any hiding from him, or their audience.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a thin strip of leather and held it out for her inspection. “Do you know what this is, kitten?”

“A collar, sir?”

“Good girl. You’re going to wear it for me tonight. To let everyone in this club know you belong to me.”

A short hesitation was followed by her quiet, “Yes, sir.”

Fuck. He was going to embarrass himself if she kept speaking in that low, husky voice. “Turn around and lift your hair for me, kitten.”

She obeyed without argument, raising the mass of curls to expose the gentle slope of her neck. When the collar locked into place, he leaned down to nip at her earlobe. “Mine.”

“For tonight, sir.”

Winding a hand through her hair, he pulled her head back, far enough for him to see the muscles of her throat working as she audibly swallowed. “Forever, Katherine. I know you don’t believe me, but that’s okay. I’m a patient man.”

He wasn’t, not by nature. But for her, he could be. Would be, if that was what it took to keep her by his side for the rest of their lives.

Before she could protest, he used his hold on her hair to direct her attention to the stage. “What do you see, kitten?”

A soft huff told him she was annoyed, but she answered anyway. “I see a woman tied up in a bunch of ropes, hanging from the ceiling. Is that safe?”

“Very.” Slipping his hands around to her front, he cupped her heavy breasts and rolled the pert nipples between his fingers. “What do you notice about the woman?”

Her breath caught at his touch. “She’s very pretty.”

“What else?”

“Ah. I don’t know.”

He gave each nipple a hard pinch in response. “Focus, kitten.”

“Yes, sir,” was delivered through clenched teeth. “She looks peaceful. Happy.”

“Anything else?”

“Um. I like the ropes, sir. The way they make a pattern.”

“Interesting.”
