“You and the kids are the best thing that ever happened to me.” He kisses me, and I slide my arms up around his neck. “I don’t know how you’re so strong.”

I smile at him. He really doesn’t know? “You’re my strength. With you by my side, I know we can get through anything.”

He cups my face again. “How did I get so fucking lucky?” Then he places a chaste kiss on my lips. “I’m sorry if I ruined tonight for you.”

I leave one hand around his neck and place my other hand in his. “You didn’t ruin anything.”

We dance again while I wrestle with whether I should bring up what’s been in my heart lately. At first I question if this is the time, but then I decide it’s now or never.

“It’s pretty great about Carm and Bella having another baby, don’t you think?”

“I do. Carm mentioned a while ago that they had started trying. I know better than to ask how it’s going, but I was starting to wonder. I’m glad it worked out.”

“I’ve been thinking lately… maybe we should try for another.”

Enzo stops moving and pulls back to look at me. “Are you serious?”

I can’t get a read on whether he thinks it’s a good or bad idea, so I nod slowly. “I’ve been thinking about it lately, and I’ll admit that when Bella told us she was pregnant, a little pang of jealousy hit me.”

“Is that a possibility? I mean, with your past diagnosis and treatment?”

We’d thought we were done having kids when I was first diagnosed, so when I went through treatment, we had no concern for how it might affect my fertility.

I nod. “I spoke with my doctor at my last appointment. He said there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to get pregnant and have a healthy baby. Is that something you’d consider?” My teeth push into my bottom lip while I wait for his answer.

“There’s nothing I like more than making little humans with you.” He gives me a deep kiss that makes me want to ditch this party and go get started right now.

“Unfortunately for you, it doesn’t take that much practice.” With my first two pregnancies, we joked that all he had to do was walk past me in the hall and I’d get pregnant.

“True story.”

“Enzo, if you don’t want to do this… if you think our family is perfect how it is…” The last thing I want to do is pressure him into having another child.

“I say we start trying tonight.”

“Really?” My eyebrows rise.

“Absolutely.”

“I still have to go off my birth control, so it might take a while for…” I trail off because of the look he’s giving me. “Oh, you don’t care. You still want to try.” I chuckle.

“Practice makes perfect, as they say.”

“That they do.” I push up on my tiptoes and kiss him.

Perfect is what I already have with this man by my side. And I know that no matter what life throws at us, we’ll always get through to the other side—together.
