“If we could tell when they had their hair dyed, maybe that will guide us?” Frost says, “Or if the cops found any dye in any of the women’s homes.” I lean towards the laptop and switch off the sharing on the screen as we hear the footsteps approaching. Hawk and Onix are approaching, and she doesn’t need to see a picture of her sister up on the screen as a reminder that this motherfucker also killed her sister. When they step into the comms room, I see by Onix’s swollen eyes that she’s been crying.

“Can’t you sleep?” I ask.

“No, every time I close my eyes, I see her again,” Onix says, “Is Alaska sleeping?”

“Yeah, I gave her a sleeping tablet.” At my statement I see Hawk glance down at his mate, his arm that is around her waist tightening.

“I’m going to get you one,” he says.

“No, I don’t want a sleeping tablet.” Hawk shakes his head at her reply.

“You need to sleep and if you have a sleeping tablet you won’t be dreaming, you will have a peaceful sleep.”

“I don’t want to get used to taking sleeping tablets,” she mutters.

“It’s one pill Onix, not the box,” he mutters as he leans down and kisses her forehead.

“Was it him?” each time he kills a woman Hawk feels like he has let Onix down as he promised her that he would catch the fucker that killed her sister and even though we are all trying to find the smallest clue to find this sick fuck he is proving to be resourceful. The day we thought we would get a break and either get his number plate or an image of his face in the cameras that lead to the highway he was smarter and had his sun flap down obscuring his face, the numberplate was stolen therefore leading us to the wrong person.

I look over at Hawk and see him scowl at her question, his arm tightening around her body as if to comfort her. “Yes,” he replies.

“Okay,” her sad reply is heart wrenching, she looks up at Hawk, “let’s go find that pill” Hawk nods and starts to turn.

“Goodnight,” Onix murmurs before turning.

“Hawk will be furious at the fact that once again the killer has killed right under our noses,” Frost states as he comes back to his chair and takes a seat.

“What about you brother, can’t sleep?” Frost doesn’t sleep much, his memories haunting him.

“Just thought I would look at everything and see if I could make sense of anything,” he states, sidestepping the question which he usually does when we come close to anything that has to do with his past and the nightmares that still plague him.

“I’m going to go back upstairs just in case my woman wakes up,” I say as I start to turn.

“Blue is leaving again.” At his statement I stop, Blue as a singer is usually on the road quite a bit staying away for months on end, but he hasn’t been back home that long for him to be itching to leave again.

“Why?” I ask and see Frost shrug.

“You know Blue, when things start getting tough, he runs.” Which is true, Blue doesn’t face issues he would rather overlook them and continue living his life, that’s why his anger today at the house is different for him.

“You think these killings are getting to him?” I think these killings are getting to everyone in this town as women are now scared to go out, women aren’t trusting anyone and even like that he manages to grab them and kill them.

“Yeah, I think they are.”

“Frost, how does he get his women?” I ask, an idea popping into my head.

“What do you mean?” Frost asks with a frown.

“I mean that all the women in town are scared, they are all suspicious, so how would he get them to trust him to get close?”

“Maybe he’s well known in town, or he helps them with something,” he says as he turns back to the laptop to start looking at the male residents in town, it could be a lead or it could be another dead end but at least we have something else to look into. “Go stay with your woman, brother,” Frost says without looking at me.

Frost prefers his own company; he has always been a loner and no matter how many times we have tried to involve him, he will always find a way of being alone. “Try catching some sleep,” I say as I start making my way out, I hear him mutter.

“Yes, mom,” which has my lips kicking up in amusement. I am about to start walking up the stairs to the rooms when I hear the back door open. Stopping, I wait only to see Sam enter. When she sees me, she freezes in her tracks.

“You’re up late, where have you been?” I ask.

“I was in the cottage cleaning,” she says, “did you need anything Dash?”
