“No sweetheart, but you need to take it easy it’s late and we don’t expect you to work your fingers to the bone.” Sam has turned her attention into cleaning everything she finds, our home has never been cleaner than it is now, I guess it’s her coping mechanism. I can smell the detergents that she has been using on her skin, wafting up to me. “Go sleep, you are looking tired,” I say and see her nod her shy smile at me.

“I will, goodnight Dash,” she murmurs as she walks down the corridor towards her room that is near the infirmary. I continue up the stairs and to my room, opening the door I find the side table light still on and Alaska sleeping peacefully. I got rid of the stalker so that she could be at peace, so she could have a happy life, and instead she is witness to the handiwork of a killer.

Walking into the bathroom I divest of my clothes throwing them into the wash basket, then I lean into the shower and turn on the water, the hot rivulets soothing my tensed muscles, soothing the anger that I feel. When I lie with my woman, I want to be at peace; I want to be able to comfort her with care and love like she deserves, and not with anger and frustration.

I could easily shift and go for a long run today to feel the earth under my paws, the smell of the woods, the quiet, but I don’t want to be far if Alaska awakens and is frightened and looking for me. So, turning off the water, I dry myself before making my way into the room. Pulling back the sheet, I slip into bed, my arms sliding around my woman as I pull her tight against me.

Alaska murmurs in her sleep, but then she quietens, and her breathing deepens again. Closing my eyes, I listen to her breathing, letting the sound lull me into sleep.

My eyes snap open at the click of the bedroom door shutting. Sitting up, I see Alaska tiptoeing towards the bed, a tray in her hands. “Where were you?”

“Aargh,” she mutters in surprise, the tray jutting up nearly dropping the contents. “Stop doing that,” she snaps with a glare at me.

“Doing what? I just asked you a question,” I say as I lean back against the headboard.

“You’re supposed to be sleeping,” she says as she places the tray on the bed.

“I wake up at the softest sound, which has me asking you how you left without me hearing you?” I don’t like the fact that my woman was able to get up and leave the room without me hearing her.

“You were sleeping so soundly that I thought I would get up and make you breakfast before you disappear again for the day.” I know I have been busy and that I haven’t been with Alaska as much as I would like to have been, but that will change, she’s my priority and I won’t let anything get in the way of that. When she called me yesterday and I thought that she might be in danger my world stopped rotating. The women went there because they were bored and they were trying to get our attention, because of that they could have been hurt.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I murmur as I stretch out my hand to lift the cover from the plate, but she slaps my hand playfully.

“Hey, did I tell you, you could peep?” I growl deep in my throat at her playfulness.

“I thought it was for me,” I state.

“It was, but you are so grumpy that I’m thinking of eating it all alone,” she teases.

That comment has me grinning as I wiggle my eyebrows at her, “that’s okay, I’ll eat you while you eat the food.” She gasps, her cheeks darkening with passion at my provocation.

“You’re so naughty,” she murmurs as she pulls the cover off the plate and I see golden scrambled eggs, four sausages, bacon and when she uncovers the smaller plate, there is toast. The glasses have orange juice, but I don’t see coffee. My stomach rumbles, which has her grinning, “still don’t want the food?”

“Stop teasing me woman, give me that tray and come and sit next to me.” Leaning forward I pick up the tray before she can get to it, placing it on my lap I wait for her to get comfortable next to me before handing her a fork. “Thank you, this is the first time I get breakfast in bed.” At my confession, she gasps in surprise.

“You have never had breakfast brought to you in bed before?” she asks.

“Nope,” I reply and place a good portion of the egg in my mouth.

“Well, I guess I better start bringing you breakfast more often then.”

“I prefer you in bed with me when I wake up,” I mutter looking at her taking a bite of one of the sausages.

“So do I, but most days you are not,” she mutters with a shrug.

“Most of the things we do are really early, I’m not going to wake you up at that time,” I state.

“Well then, you can’t complain when I get up and go and make you breakfast while you are sleeping.” Now that I know that she will try again, I will make sure to be more vigilant.

“We shall see,” I say. Picking up the glass, I drink my freshly squeezed orange juice. “How would you like to go for a ride today?” at my question, she glances at me, a smile on her face.

“Are you taking me on our first date, Dash?” her question has me frowning.

“Do you want to go on dates?” I know that we don’t go out often, but I try to be with her every chance I get.

“I would like to do things with you, normal things,” she says with a shrug.

“Like what?”
