“And?”

“And he’s just what I would expect from someone who would do something like he did,” I murmur.

“That bad, is he?” Taffy asks as she shakes her head.

“Worse.” And he really is. I should have known. I’m so angry at myself; I nearly made the biggest mistake of my life, I almost blamed an innocent man for something he clearly didn’t do, and I treated him appallingly when he was so nice.

“There is something you aren’t telling me,” Taffy says, looking keenly at me.

“He kissed me.” The words come out so softly, that at first, I think she didn’t hear me, but then she slaps my leg with enough force to have me gasp.

“Are you telling me that you let that bastard kiss you? The same asshole that destroyed your sister’s life?”

I shake my head vehemently. “No, not him.” I would never kiss that presumptuous asshole, even if they paid me.

“Then who?”

Just thinking of the kiss that Blue and I shared has my stomach knotting.

“Blue Strada.”

BLUE 5

“How can you not have her fucking contact’s details?” I’m fucking livid. If Jim only knew how close he is to pushing me over the edge, he would fucking stop whining and get me what I need.

“She gave the prize to the girl. Why would we keep her details? We have the girl’s details, and why the hell do you want it, anyway?”

I grunt in frustration. He’s really pissing me off. “Send me the details.” I turn, making my way towards my Harley. That is one thing that I stipulated from the very beginning; I would not ride in the band’s bus with the others while on the road. I told them that I’m claustrophobic, but the truth is that sometimes I stop and change into my wolf to run through the woods and de-stress from the everyday pressures. If I share the bus, I wouldn’t be able to do that.

Pulling my phone out of my jeans pocket, I dial King’s number. After the second ring he answers. “Blue!” King, as my alpha, is always the one I ask for help from. He’s the one I call because he can give me the most assistance.

“King, I need help.” I know that I’m not the same as the others in the pack, everyone usually stays together in the club, but I have been so restless the last couple of years that I had to get away and wander the world, trying to keep sane.

“What’s wrong?” There was noise when I first phoned, but I can hear him walking. The noise is diminishing, which tells me that he must be at the club, maybe in the bar area, and now he’s most likely moving towards his office.

“I found my mate.”

My statement elicits a grunt from him.

“But I lost her again.”

“How the fuck did you do that?” he snaps.

Our mate is the most important part of us once we find her. There is no excuse for losing mine. Fuck, why the hell did she run? She must have felt the connection between us. The way we kissed was hot enough to light up a city.

“It doesn’t matter. All that matters is finding her.” If I don’t find my mate after touching her—kissing her, I will lose my shit. I have been holding onto my sanity for so long that I’m afraid this is what will throw me over the edge.

“What do you need, Brother?” I know that I will have to give King the full story sooner or later, but that is what holds our pack together. No matter what, we always have each other’s backs.

“Can you see if one of the guys wants to come down and help me look for her? Also, if I send you some details that I have, can someone try to look her up?”

“Goliath, get in here,” I hear King call. “Send me the info and I will get someone on it. In the morning, you will have help.”

“Thanks, King.”

“Blue, hang in there. We will find her.”

I close my eyes as I disconnect the call, taking in a deep breath to try to calm the agitation coursing through my body. I’m about to slide the phone back into my pocket when a text comes in. Looking at it, I see the info I asked Jim for, and fuck it isn’t much, but at least we have a phone number. Sending the info through to King, I growl deep in my throat as I start to pace. How the fuck does a wolf lose his mate?
