“What happened?” Fang asks for the second time since accompanying us home.

“What happened is that I should have known better.” It’s not my place to reveal Lee Ann’s problems, but at the moment, I really wish that I was as ruthless as the asshole that hurt my sister. Because if I was, I would have these dangerous, sweet men make him pay.

Lee Ann was just starting to show signs of recovery when that asshole had to come into the spa and mess everything up. Why, oh why couldn’t he just have stayed away? But I should have known better. After all, this is my fault. I wanted revenge for what Jim did to Lee Ann, and now I have just hurt her again.

How did I not realize it before that being close to Blue would open up the possibility of Jim finding out who I am, and him and Lee Ann meeting again? It’s something that isn’t good for her. But because of my stupid plan, it happened again.

“What happened in that spa?” Goliath asks, his hands firmly set on his hips.

“What happened is that I was stupid. Because of me, Lee Ann is hurting again.” I can feel the tears of frustration choking me—the tears of self-loath. I shouldn’t have gone looking for Jim, I should have left it alone. Looking up at Fang and Goliath, I see that they are standing before me with a concerned look on their faces. I feel even worse for dragging them into this. “Look, I’m so sorry for this. Thank you for accompanying us home. Everything will be fine now.” Hopefully, they will leave now so that I can curl up and cry at the way I stupidly hurt my sister.

“If someone said something to you at the spa, just let us know and we’ll make them pay.” The tone in Fang’s voice is deadly, his eyes intense. I have no doubt that if he finds out what upset us, he would be rushing out there to make him pay.

“No, it’s fine.” I’m the culprit. If it wasn’t for me, Jim wouldn’t have come looking for me today.

“We’re not leaving until Blue gets here.” Great, they are going to tell Blue, and then he will also want to know. He’s going to know that I wanted to destroy his life when I first met him and that I wanted to dupe him.

“Why don’t you make yourself at home? I’m going to go and see how Lee Ann is.” Taffy is with her, but I want to make sure that she isn’t going to try anything crazy just because she saw that asshole again. Turning, I make my way towards the room. Opening the door, I see her sitting on her bed, her legs folded in front of her with her arms hugging them. Taffy is sitting beside her on the bed.

Walking in, I close the door behind me. Taffy looks over her shoulder at me with an angry look on her face. I know she’s not angry at me, but at the asshole that decided to come and look for me. Jim came into the spa insisting that I stop seeing Blue, offering me an obscene amount of money to stay out of his life. I don’t know if I should tell Blue or not, because if I tell Blue, I will have to tell him what I was doing the first day I met him.

“Lee Ann, I’m so sorry.”

My sister’s eyes meet mine, but instead of the sad, pitiful creature I thought I was going to find, I see an angry gleam in her eye that I never thought to see today.

“You have no reason to be sorry, he’s the asshole,” she says angrily. “He has no right to insist that you stop seeing Blue.”

“I think if Blue didn’t want to see Siena, then that bastard wouldn’t have come looking for us or try to ward Siena off,” Taffy states angrily, her eyes blazing with rage.

“Blue punched him yesterday when he grabbed my arm. I think that’s why he’s angry,” I reveal as I approach the bed to take a seat on the other side across from Taffy and next to Lee Ann.

“Damn, I wish I was there, I’m liking Blue more and more.”

I smile at Taffy’s angry words just as there’s a knock on the door. Frowning, I stand up to open the door, but before I can reach it, the door swings open, revealing Frost on the other side. Frost is scary in his normal state, but now that he has a scowl as dark as hell and eyes hard like steel, I feel shivers rush down my spine.

“Are you okay?” He’s looking directly at Lee Ann when he asks his question, his body vibrating with anger. I would never want to be on this man’s radar if he was angry and looking for me.

“Frost, I told you I was fine. You didn’t need to come.” When did Lee Ann speak to Frost? During the day she mentioned Frost, but I never thought anything of it.

“Was it that asshole?” I see Lee Ann nod. The next minute, he turns and is gone.

“Does he know about Jim?” I didn’t know that Lee Ann had told anyone

“Yes, I told him when they came for dinner,” she says with a shrug. “Frost understands me.”

“Do you like Frost?” I know that Frost must be a shifter like Blue. If Lee Ann isn’t his mate, he will hurt her sooner or later when his mate comes along, but Lee Ann shakes her head in denial.

“No. Frost is a really great guy, but he’s more like a big brother or a really dear friend that I’ve known for a long time. I can’t see myself ever liking Frost like that.”

I sigh in relief, but Taffy, being the curious soul that she is, continues questioning her.

“What about him? Looks like he took a fancy to you.” Before Taffy has finished talking, Lee Ann is shaking her head.

“No, Frost doesn’t like me.”

“How do you know?” Taffy persists

“Let’s just say that I know.”
