“I also play the sax, but who’s counting,” he quips with a wink. Jake is a musician through and through. He has the best ear for music and rhythm that I have ever encountered.

“You’re so talented,” she says with an adoring smile.

“Don’t tell him that, we will never hear the end of it,” Kevin teases as he stretches out his hand to Denise. “I’m pleased to meet you, Denise. What did you think of the show?”

My eyes move to my woman again, my whole body goes rigid when I see her looking at Jake. My wolf wants to tear him apart—my anger rising.

“Jim, get rid of the media,” I mutter as I step forward. I know how volatile wolves are when they find their mate and haven’t bonded yet. If the guys around me only knew how close they are to being shredded to pieces, they would fuck off quickly. Stepping up to my woman, I want to grab her, throw her over my shoulder, and carry her away from here, but that wouldn’t go down very well with the media or with my band.

“Blue.” My eyes turn from my mate to Denise, her innocent eyes stare up at me all lovestruck.

“Hi, sweetheart. I hear you are one of our biggest fans.” I take her smaller hand in my much bigger one, engulfing hers as I hold it. “So, what is your favourite song?” I’m on autopilot asking her the question because my mind is on the woman standing a couple of steps away within hand’s reach. All I have to do is stretch out my hand to touch her—feel her.

“I love Dreamer, that song is so beautiful.” All my songs are about the life around me, about people I have known in one way or another. Dreamer is about Frost, one of the brothers in the MC, and one of my pack. Frost has had a hard time in life. It’s interesting that Denise loves Dreamer. She’s a survivor, just like Frost.

“Have they given you a T-shirt, and other band merchandise, yet?” I want to make sure that when Denise leaves here, she knows that we care. She looks over her shoulder at my woman, then back at me before shaking her head. Turning towards Jim, I raise my brow. Firstly, the media is still standing around taking photos, and then I find out that they haven’t been offered any of the merchandise that we had made specifically for these kinds of situations.

“Ashley,” Jim calls, which immediately has the poor girl running to do his bidding.

“Ladies, let’s go somewhere else less noisy,” I say with a smile. “I don’t think I caught your name.” My mate finally looks at me, her eyes intense, flecks of green mixed with the brown. Big expressive eyes that tell me that she wants me, but they also tell me that she’s fighting it.

“Siena.” Her voice is melodious, a whisper of fresh air in this life of hidden perverseness.

“Let’s go this way,” Kevin says as he inclines his head towards the door.

Siena starts to push the wheelchair, Denise is chatting away to Kevin, and all I want to do is take Siena and leave. I don’t even know anything about her except that she’s beautiful, and by the work she does it seems like it’s not just on the outside. I can sense her nervousness. The way she looks at everyone but me, tells me that she can feel the pull between us.

“It was really nice of you making Denise the Dreamcatcher Competition winner.” Siena looks at me with a puzzled look. Her head tilts slightly. I spoke softly enough so that no one could hear me except her. I would rather not have any of the journalists catching our conversation and making a big thing of it.

“She deserves it.” The sound of her voice is like sweet syrup, I can nearly taste her words on my tongue.

“Tell me more about yourself, Siena.” This time when she looks at me, she’s glaring. What the hell did I do?

“Shouldn’t you be asking Denise that?” There is something intense in her whispered words that has me pausing. It’s nearly like hate, but I must be mistaken because how or why would she hate me?

“You’re right, but you are here too, and trust me when I say that I will give Denise my full attention as soon as we get to our changing room.” Siena is starting to intrigue me. All the women I have met are more than happy to answer any questions I have. I would have thought that someone that entered a competition—a competition that is meant to meet the band, would be pleased to talk to me.

We’re nearly at our destination when two groupies run up to me. Fuck, can’t the security keep them away? I see Siena’s disgusted look when I dismiss them. Maybe she’s already feeling the possessiveness that is natural of a mated couple.

We make our way into the changing room only to find that everything has been packed for our leave. The one thing that helps me through the demons in my life is the constant travel. The constant move from one place to another. It leaves me so tired that all I can think about is where the next resting place will be. I love my pack, the Wolverine MC. We’re lupin, and even though packs stick together, I have to leave my brothers every chance I get so I can keep sane.

There is always something going on back home, and even though I’m not someone that runs from trouble, I’m someone that protects those that are close to me. I’m a bomb about to explode—a bomb that will take all those around me with him. Music was the only thing that kept me calm, at least for a little while. But ever since the serial killer decided to target our MC, I have no peace anymore. Knowing that there is someone out there evil enough to do the things this fucker is doing, is like a wound being eaten away inside of me.

My control started to slip when I was at home. I found myself wanting to go on a killing spree, going out into the world and ripping every fucker’s throat out. My wolf has been restless and unpredictable. I needed this—I needed to find my mate. I needed to find the one that calms the fury that has been running through my veins.

Now that I have met my mate. I need to convince her that she’s mine, that she’s the only one that can save me from myself.

“We need to leave in the next half hour,” Jim calls out as we close the door to our dressing room.

“Why?” He didn’t warn us of anything else today.

“Callum is having a private party in his penthouse. It would be good for you all to make an appearance.” Jim is always throwing things at us last minute. Well today, he will have to go himself because there is no way that I’m going to leave my mate when I have just met her. Callum is a fellow singer—a singer I don’t really know and that I’m not interested in getting to know.

“No.” My answer has Joel grinning as he takes a seat on the couch.

“What do you mean, no? This is good PR!” Jim can really whine sometimes.

“We’re staying here to get to know Denise. What kind of artists would we be if we don’t entertain our number one fan?” Denise looks at me with a radiant smile on her face.
