Dean tugs my hand in his, leading me to the center of the living room. Less than a foot of space between us, my eyes stretch into impossibly wide circles as he reaches into his back pocket with his free hand.

Withdrawing a small black box, he sinks to one knee. Staring at me from the floor, Dean smiles at me tenderly.

My eyes burn, tears prickling the corners when he starts speaking.

“Two years ago, I was practically manhandled by a forceful woman in a skintight dress to participate in an adoption event.” I’m unable to stop the wet laugh, knowing the details of Madam Eve bossing Daddy around, finding it every bit as amusing as I did the first time I saw the two of them standing side-by-side.

“Every bit of my soul rebelled against the idea, thinking it was a waste of time. Thoughts bounced in my head about how there was no way the night would end in anything but four hours of wasted time. Then the moment I stepped into the spotlight and caught sight of you, everything changed. No, I didn’t know you would be the boy I would fall ass over elbows in love with, but I knew I had to have you. Dark circles beneath your eyes, half-asleep on your feet, there was a moment in time I knew I was going to be your Daddy.”

“Dean…”

“You made me fight for it, baby bat. Tooth and nail, I scratched at your walls, pounding on the door to your heart, and you finally let me in. These past two years have been wondrous, filled with more precious moments than I’d ever hoped to have with you. Tanner, I love you more than words. This life we’ve grown together is filled with all the fantasies I’ve dreamed of since I discovered the Daddy Dom inside me.

“You and me? Baby bat, we fit. And now, it’s time you adopt me for real.” Opening the box, a thin black band shines from its nestled place in the red velvet lining. “Marry me, Tanner. Marry me and become my husband, my forever boy.” Daddy blinks, his eyelashes wet, tearful hope shining across his face.

Nodding, I answer him. “Yes.” I clear my throat and speak louder. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”

Daddy removes the ring, the box haphazardly discarded to the floor as he slides the metal onto my ring finger. Standing, he lifts me into his arms and kisses me deeply, the love between us glowing brightly.

“You’re going to make me the happiest man in the world,” he says once he breaks away.

“Impossible,” I say, grinning in his face. “I’ve already claimed that title.”

“Hmm.” He presses another kiss to my lips. “How about we call it a tie, baby bat?”

“Deal.”
