“Don’t aww me, Theo! Spying isn’t nice! That goes for all of you. Shame on you!” The female’s tone had switched from pissed to chastising.
“Aria is right,” Reaper sighed. “Sorry Viper and Oz.”
“Yeah. Sorry or whatever.” That had to be Acer. He didn’t sound sorry at all.
“Sunshine, you better get your fine metal ass off that comm right now or you’ll be sleeping on the couch!”
“Shit, gotta go.” A rustling sounded. “I said I was sorry. That must count for something. Come on, Marley. I’ll be good, I promi-” A click sounded as he disconnected.
One cyborg down. Four to go.
Next was Reaper and Theo, the young military model offering his own apology before he disconnected. All that now remained was Dax and Brone.
“Take her home, Viper. Science Model’s orders.” Click.
One more left.
“I am happy you finally pulled your heads out of your asses and realized you care for each other. Congrats. Now go ravish your female someplace other than the hallway, Technology Model.” Click.
With Brone’s exit, I lifted my face from Viper’s chest and peered up at him, a smile tugging at the corner of my lips. My days spent being a part of the cyborg rebellion weren’t ever going to be boring, that’s for sure.
Strong purple hands cupped my cheeks. “I am sorry, Oz. I didn’t know they would do that. I should have…” His brow furrowed, concern etched on his features.
“Shh,” I covered his mouth with my hand, cutting off his words. “It’s not your fault. Family can be annoying like that. At least, I think so. I haven’t ever really had a family before.” I snuggled against his chest. “I’ll take annoying. I am happy to finally belong somewhere.” I placed a kiss directly over the steady sound of his heart. “And to someone.” I met his eyes.
He swooped down and captured my mouth in another mind melting kiss. His lips staked his claim, informing the world I was his.
“Come home with me,” he rasped. “Say yes.”
“Yes.” I cupped his cheek, enjoying the way his eyes fluttered closed at my touch. “Yes to everything, Viper.”
