After a few minutes of conversation, he pulled out a prescription bottle from his pocket and pulled one out for her. I’d never seen him do that before. Stormy took the medicine and Doc moved to the side. I squatted down in front of her, taking both her hands in mine. She still struggled to control her breathing. At least it wasn’t as bad as earlier.

The medicine took effect fast. Her breathing started to slow. She squeezed my hands.

“Hold me.”

I moved to her side on the couch before scooping her up and putting her on my lap. My arms wrapped around her, pulling her in tight. Stormy laid her head on my shoulder and sobbed. Her shoulders shook with force. I pulled her in close. Papa was the first to move in and put his arms around us. One by one, each man in the room joined in the hug. Even Stone.

We held her until she stopped crying and started laughing. The group eased up and before I could ask if she was alright.

Stormy blurted out, “Is this the MC equivalent to a puppy pile, and can I sign up for this regularly?”

My brothers laughed and I couldn’t help but join in.

“Anytime you need a hug, Queenie. You just come to me,” Papa said.

My other brothers said the same. Queen was her official name. At least it’s the one going on her cut. However, it seems, my brothers had dubbed her Queenie. Stormy dried her tears on a handkerchief Stone offered her.

“Is it alright if I read the note, cher?”

She nodded. Stone handed me the plastic covered note.

Your mutt is in the way. He has to go. See you soon.

My blood boiled. Who the hell is this T and why is he terrorizing my woman.

“Bébé, can you tell us who the note is from?”

Tears streamed down her cheeks, and I felt her body tremble.

“It’s from Ty. It has to be. I think he’s been in my house all week. Things were out of place. I’ve been so tired I thought maybe I imagined it. Honu goes with me to work. The guys love him. Today is the first day he’s been in the house without me.”

“Bébé, who’s Ty?”

Stormy started to speak but then looked around the room. I could feel her unease.

“Would it be easier if there were fewer people in the room?”

“Yes. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry. My brothers don’t offend easily. Doc, Detective Stone and I will stay. Is that alright?”

“That’s fine, thank you.”
