“Not good, great. The best. You’re a brat, but I love it, and you put yourself on the line. Not many people, men or women, have the courage to do that.”

She wasn’t sure what he meant, but she didn’t care, and as he clutched her hair and kissed her again, she almost cried with joy. He cared about her...really cared.

“I’m going to start again now,” he murmured, lifting his head, “and I’m not going to stop until you climax. Are you ready?”

“God yes,” she breathed as he began to stroke.

“Close your eyes and feel me,” he whispered, lowering his lips to her ear. “Feel every inch, feel my weight holding you down and possessing you. You’re mine now, Heather. Understand? It’s going to be the two of us against the world. I’ll spank your ass when you need it, and you’ll thank me. I’m taking care of you from now on. Got it?”

“Yes, yes, I’ve got it,” she cried, almost delirious with happiness.

His fingers tightened around her hair, his thrusts grew stronger, and he quickened his pace. Over endless minutes, like a huge balloon filling with air, her orgasm began rising up inside her. As it drew near, she caught her breath.

“Now, Heather, come with me now,” he ordered, as if sensing she was at the brink.

His command sent her hurtling into the sparkling spasms, but just as she thought they were about to pass, he bit her neck. Another convulsion rippled through her, more powerful than the ones before. There was no stopping the loud squeal from leaving her lips, but his mouth quickly covered hers, muffling her wild wail until it was over...

RESTING HER HEAD AGAINSTTony’s chest as he fell asleep, Heather felt lighter than air. He said she sang with the voice of an Angel. She had always thought she sounded unique. Now she was desperate to be heard, and show her parents just how wrong they were.

But she had no illusions.

She would have to record a demo, send out a ton of copies, and hope someone would listen. She’d be singing in smoky bars and small venues, honing her skill and praying she might get noticed. But patience was not her strong suit.

The more she thought about it, the more she decided she had to find another way in. If she sang for ten people who could propel her career, and only one had Tony’s reaction, that one might be enough. But how was she going to get ten important people in one room to listen to her?

Closing her eyes, she prayed for inspiration, then found herself drifting away. She was almost asleep when her eyes popped open.

A plan floated through her head, and in a short five minutes, she had it all worked out.

CHAPTER THIRTY

IT WAS THE FOLLOWINGmorning, and Jerry was soaking in the sight of his beautiful wife gliding through the water. She had been so engulfed in preparations for the upcoming party she hadn’t had time for her daily swim. But the arrangements were finally coming together, and she was taking an early afternoon break for some laps.

While there would still be business trips, and meetings that could only be held in his office at Continental Pictures, he had been working from home as much as possible and had continued to delegate. Enjoying the sight of Tia from his study window, he wished he’d made the changes sooner.
